Rinka and Kurarin
Rinka’s Point of View
There is an old man who occasionally appears at Christia Castle. He looks small and weak, but he has become a kind of urban legend because no one has ever caught him and he always manages to escape.
Of course, the knights try to catch him because he looks suspicious. However, the old man always runs away.
When he is discovered, he looks like an ordinary old man, but as soon as he encounters a knight, he moves quickly and runs away, and before you know it, he has escapes.
"That old man is him."
"Purr, purr..."
Kurarin was relaxing on my lap. By the way, since he's not a beastman, he's saying "Purr" with his mouth.
"I see. What were you doing, Kurarin?”
"Kurarin was taking a walk. Kurarin gets bored at the Magic Academy. The knights are scary, but playing tag with them is good exercise."
In other words, Kurarin’s crime is trespassing? Well, if you interfere with Cur-tan's work... no, it's not good to attack an unarmed old man!
"... Is that old man an acquaintance of yours, Rinka?"
“No, it's our first meeting."
(................)
Alphage-sama and the knights looked at me with contemptuous eyes. The cold gaze tormented me! Blizzard!
"Well, I've never met the real one, but I was helped by Kurarin’s phantom! Kurarin is Rosarin-chan’s… errr…”
What again? Acquaintance? While I was pondering about this, Kurarin explained.
“Rosarin is Kurarin’s comrade and an Angel. She gave Kurarin the power of a magical girl."
“””So, does that mean Rosarin is the reason why this old man can't be caught?"””
The knights were convinced. I don't really understand, but it seems like they're blaming Rosarin-chan! Is there anything I can do to cover this up...!?
"Oh, I'm also a magical girl! To be precise, I'm a hero."
"A power soldier called a magical girl?"
"Why would you say that!? Magic has nothing to do with it!?"
"Buhiyaahaha!"
Alphage-sama said something incomprehensible with a straight face, and Cur-tan burst out laughing. Aldin-sama and the twin knights looked like they wanted to say "Huh?"
Then Kurarin bit.
"What did you say!? Transform! I'll test if you're worthy of being our comrade!"
"Ueh!? O-okay! Shining☆Illusion!! Connect the world and save the world! Magical Hero☆Lyrical Linker!!"
It's been a while since I've done this look because I've been doing metamorphosis transformations lately. People get used to things. I don't care anymore.
"That's great! Bravo, Linker!! I recognize you as my comrade!"
Kurarin gave me generous applause and praise. Huh? I became her friend so easily.
"What about that wand...?"
"Rosarin-chan gave it to me. She said she modified the Saintess’ harassment wand that was found in Wolfanea or something like that..."
"... That thing."
"... It’s that thing, yeah."
Alphage-sama and Aldin-sama seemed to remember something painful. The three knights were laughing. Did something happen?
Tsu-san showed me the memory of the old man magical girl. Then, the image of even the young Alphage-sama and others froze in place.
"Happiness☆Shiny, Smiling☆Miracle Charge☆Magical Girl Kuranosuke☆ Call me Kurarin☆"
And Kuririn also transformed. She became a cute old man.
"Linker!"
"Y-yes?"
"Emergency scramble! I hear a voice asking for help from magical girls!"
"Huh?"
"We are going, Linker!"
"O-okay! Kurarin!"
And so, we ran around, saving the maid who was about to fall from the terrace, catching pickpockets, catching bandits, and defeating monsters.
"Ah, did he get away in the end?"
"Well, it's okay. It turns out that the unidentified old man is related to Rosarin. It's certain that he's not a spy. No problem."
In response to Cur-tan’s mutterings, Alphage-sama, looking tired, apparently concluded.
And then, on another day, it seems that Rosarin-chan received complaints about Kurarin...
"It seems that Kurarin's guardian used to be the former head of the Magic Court."
So, Alphage-sama conducted an investigation at the former head of the Magic Court's place.
"Yeah, but so what? The old man is free, and he's the one who created the barrier system that keeps out suspicious individuals in this country, so in reality, there's no place in this country where that old man can't go."
Further headaches became apparent. It seems that Alphage-sama tried hard to persuade Kurarin, but...
"Hmm~"
She apparently didn't listen to the story.
"Please, do something about it."
Alphage-sama, at his wit's end, came to Rosarin-chan for help.
"There's someone more suitable than me. Rinka."
"Yes, sir."
"I'm counting on you. You're close to Kurarin, right?"
"Well, I guess..."
And so, I talked to Kurarin.
"Kurarin, I have a request."
"What is it?"
"It's about our walks. I… Kurarin, I'd be sad if you were captured by the Knights. So, I'd like you to stop walking around the castle."
"Okay, I understand. Kurarin will change the walking route."
Kurarin easily agreed to the persuasion.
"What was all my effort for..."
Alphage-sama, who had come along, collapsed behind them. Don't laugh, Cur-tan. It's not nice.
A week later, there was a malfunction in the castle's barrier system. A word from the former head of the Magic Court.
"Huh? Because that old man is in charge, even the people from the Magic Court would find it difficult to repair it?"
"... Huh?"
"That old man has been maintaining the barrier magic tools during his walks. That's why no one has ever complained until now."
"You should have told me sooner!!”
… And so, we had to persuade again. Since Alphage-sama was exhausted, he kindly accepted.
"Kurarin, I'm sorry."
"Linker?"
"I didn’t ask properly why you are going to the castle. I heard that you were making sure the barrier worked properly. So, I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry too… for not listening to you."
Alphage-sama also bowed his head.
"It's okay, Linker and Arurun. Magical girls are supposed to help people quietly without anyone knowing."
"Then, I want you to teach me how to do it, too."
"Okay, Linker! Let's go!"
And so, we learned the maintenance method, and the problem was resolved.
After that, Kurarin continued to appear at the castle from time to time as a mysterious old man, and it seems she played chase with the Knights.
I guess it's a case closed!
