An unexpected special guest.
When we left the church, a carriage was waiting for us. We got in and headed to my family home. Even the house was decorated.
“This way, Ojousama.”
For the outfit change, I put on a Wolfanea-style dress. It’s pretty sexy. But with my current figure, I can pull it off. The design was based on Rikka flowers, matching Dirk’s outfit. Subtly, black and gold were used on my side, while Dirk’s was blue-silver and purple. We each had the other’s colors incorporated into our outfits.
“Dirk, you look amazing...”
The form-fitting Wolfanea outfit suited Dirk perfectly. His trained, lithe body was on full display. Ahhh... eye candy... I should give thanks.
“Huh!? Thanks. Rosarin, you’re... really beautiful and attractive, but still, let’s cover your legs. I’m the only one who gets to see your gorgeous legs.”
Dirk was dead serious. He really meant it. Rabisha-chan nodded, and I was led to another room. They wrapped a skirt over the Wolfanea-style dress. Since it was the same fabric, it didn’t look out of place.
“I still believe the previous style brought out your beauty more, Ojousama, but this one also suits you well.”
“Thank you.”
Dirk escorted me to the ballroom in my family’s house, where the party would be held. There, I noticed a very familiar presence that felt strangely out of place.
“Ah, you old hag! That’s Rin Neechan’s, like... probably reincarnated into Rosarin-chan!”
With her brows furrowed and usual scowl, Watase’s old granny was sitting in a kimono. Was that a visiting kimono? I’d never seen her in one before.
But seriously, why is she here?
“Stop calling me ‘old hag.’ How many times must I tell you to call me Great-Grandmother, you loofah-brained girl!”
Loofah... ah, she probably means full of holes.
“You’re an old hag because you’re an old hag! Who are you calling loofah-brained! If ‘old hag’ offends you, I’ll call you Lord Crap! ‘Crap’ is more than enough! You owe me for being here, don’t forget that! I can have you deported back anytime!”
Few can match Rinka in foul language. Seeing that Watase’s grandmother was about to explode, I decided to step in.
“Obaasama, it’s been a while.”
“... It has, Rin. Since you never come see me, I came to see you.”
“Didn’t ask you to.”
“Rinka, that’s enough. I apologize, Obaasama. I am happy to see you.”
While putting Rinka in a neck sleeper, I addressed Watase Obaasama. Surprisingly, she gave a small smile.
“Even in another life, you haven’t changed inside.”
“It’s gonna rain tomorrow.”
Rinka muttered as she fled, shocked by her grandmother’s smile. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if we had localized downpours or some natural disaster. Maybe sunny with a chance of Klarin.
“R-Rinka?”
“Ah, Papa! Rosarin-chan, I brought Papa too! Papa, go change! It’s Rin Neechan’s... Rosarin-chan’s wedding today!”
“How long are you going to stay in pajamas? Go change.”
“Y-Yes!”
My brother had always been bad with Grandma. He took the suit from Rinka and was led away by Martha.
“Let me reintroduce myself. I’m Rosarin. I’ve become Rosarin Burton. The soul of Rosalia, this body’s original owner, and Rin’s soul have merged, so I go by Rosarin. And this is Dirk Burton. My husband.”
Dirk knelt and met Watase Obaasama’s gaze.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Dirk Burton. I promise to spend my life making your granddaughter happy.”
“If you just stay with me, I’ll be happy.”
I corrected him there. Dirk smiled gently. Ahh, I’m so happy right now.
“You’re right. My mistake. We’ll be together for life, and we’ll be happy.”
“………………… I see. You found a good partner. She’s a bit... well, quite... very much a tomboy, but please take care of her.”
Watase Obaasama—yes, that prideful woman—actually bowed her head to Dirk. The first time I’ve seen her bow to anyone besides the gods!
“Tomorrow will be rain with a chance of Kurarin.”
“………………”
No one could deny it. That’s how shocking the moment was. Even my now-dressed brother was frozen in place.
“…… Is this a dream? It must be. Rinka’s alive, after all.”
My brother quietly shed tears. I think I might have had something to do with Rinka’s situation, and I felt terribly sorry.
“Papa, I’m alive in another world! If you don’t believe me, ask Ten-chan! I can’t see him much anymore, but I’m doing great!”
“… Yeah. It’s a nice dream.”
“Niisan.”
Wolfanea-style dresses don’t suit Rin, but I showed him a fleeting illusion.
“Thank you for letting me take care of Rinka. I’ll take full responsibility for her here. Rinka, aren’t you going to introduce Lavita?”
“Wuh!?”
“… Nice to meet you. I’m Lavita.”
Lavita greeted Obaasama and Niisan. He had been fidgeting, clearly wanting to introduce himself earlier.
“… An Aramitama… or rather, a Nigimitama? Your soul is mixed. Are you the one who summoned Rinka into this world?”
“I wasn’t the one, but… in the end, she was summoned for my sake. I’m truly grateful. I love her more than anyone. And I apologize for taking her from your world.”
Lavita bowed.
“Please raise your head, noble one. There is nothing for you to apologize for. Rinka simply fulfilled her duty as a priestess. Besides, she was the one who chose to stay here. You bear no blame.”
“Then, I’ll accept only the gratitude.”
“Yes, I shall receive it.”
Watase Obaasma was being too calm—it was terrifying. Even my brother and Rinka were huddled together in fear. That’s how bizarre and alarm-raising this situation was.
“… Isn’t this kind of rude?”
“Dirk, that’s because you don’t know what she’s usually like.”
That was absolutely true, so Dirk didn’t deny it and simply looked on in confusion at Lavita and Watase Obaasama.
