You mustn’t say unnecessary things.
Today, at the Burton estate, I was practicing a performance with my family’s magic beasts: Mofumaru, the Snow Tiger Shirayuki-kun, the Thunder Lizard Kamimura-kun, the Water Spider Suigetsu-san, the Crystal Rabbit Kurisu-kun, the Wind Hawk Hojo-kun, and the Paralyze Snake Mahiru-san.
Valkyrie also participated. I shared my magic power with the beasts to use, but depending on their specialty, they were sometimes better at controlling magic than I was.
“… Materials, huh…”
I could think of plenty for armor, but nothing suitable for a dress came to mind.
“What’s wrong, Lord?”
Mofumaru, having recently evolved into a King Kesaran Pasaran, was no longer speaking in broken words. As I fretted, Mofumaru asked, so I explained honestly. After all, magic beasts are knowledgeable about monster materials.
“Well, you see…”
When I told Mofumaru about the material issue, for some reason, he quietly handed me a pair of scissors.
“Lord, cut.”
“No way!! No, you don’t need to offer your own fur! … Wait, what!?”
Shirayuki-kun, the Snow Tiger, was trying to shave off his gorgeous fur with clippers. He was deftly attempting it with his paws… but this isn’t the time for admiration! I desperately stopped him.
Kamimura-kun, the Thunder Lizard… don’t try to peel off your skin! That’s painful! That’s definitely painful! I stopped him with all my might. In the end, he gave me a piece of his tail. Apparently, it doesn’t hurt. Well, I guess… that’s okay??
Suigetsu-san, the Water Spider, gave me some silk threads. Thank you, they’re beautiful. She said she could make threads that weren’t sticky. They shimmered like clear water and reflected the light in a mesmerizing, translucent way.
Kurisu-kun, the Crystal Rabbit! Don’t crack yourself! Don’t chip off pieces of your body!! Stop that!! I cried as I stopped him.
Hojo-kun, the Wind Hawk, gave me some feathers. Thanks… but don’t pluck them all out! Stop pulling out more!! Just a little is fine!! Come to think of it, the story of “The Grateful Crane” involved weaving fabric with feathers. Could I do something like that with these…?
Mahiru-san, the Paralyze Snake, gave me her shed skin. There’s a charm that says keeping snakeskin in your wallet attracts wealth; I wonder if that works here too… No, seriously, enough shedding! Stop overdoing it!!
My magic beasts are too devoted to me. While it’s fine if it’s something they can spare, I wish they’d stop literally harming themselves.
The next morning, fluffy fur, soft fur, and glittering materials were left at the entrance.
“Mofumaru! Shirayuki-kun! Kurisu-kuuuuun!!”
I dashed out at full speed in the early morning to find the magic beasts and restore them to their original state.
“Uggh, sob… waaaah…”
The sight of Mofumaru and Shirayuki-kun shaved clean was a shock I never wanted to see again. They didn’t even look like the same creatures anymore!!
And seeing Kurisu-kun cracked was utterly heartbreaking.
Even I burst into tears.
When I cry…
*Thump, thump, thump, thump, thump.*
My darling loses his temper.
“Who made my Rosarin cry?”
“Yes…”
“Grr…”
“Pyu…”
Mofumaru, Shirayuki-kun, and Kurisu-kun raised their hands (or equivalent) obediently.
*Thump, thump, thump*—Dirk’s tail beat out a rhythm of anger.
“I know you all care deeply for Rosarin. But if you hurt yourselves for her sake, it makes her cry like this! Never do it again!!”
“… Okay.”
“Ugh…”
“… Pyu…”
I could tell Mofumaru, Shirayuki-kun, and Kurisu-kun were apologizing, saying, “Sorry.”
“Yeah… It’s my fault for speaking carelessly too…”
“If you overexert yourselves like this, Rosarin won’t rely on you anymore. She’ll start blaming herself for asking for help in the first place!”
“… Lord, never again!”
“Grr, grr!”
“Pyu! Pyuuu!”
Mofumaru and the others clung to me desperately, promising never to do it again.
However, my careless words triggered yet another incident. Unbelievable.
