The Azure Crystal Loom
In the old bedroom Talat pointed out — the one I used to use — we found what we were looking for.
A loom made of blue crystal.
This must be the new tool the Goddess prepared for me.
“Fanny, is this also a divine artifact?”
“I think so… It’s overflowing with divine energy.”
“Hmm. Lily, you may use it.”
“Oh? You’re giving me permission pretty easily this time.”
“If it’s something that Goddess provided herself, nothing strange should happen.”
Well, that makes sense.
I took out the Frozen Abyss Spider silk I’d been saving in my backpack and tried to set it up on the loom—
only to realize something fundamental.
I didn’t actually know how to use a loom.
How was I supposed to thread the yarn through?
It didn’t seem like Plum or Fanny knew either… What should I do?
Maybe there’s something about it in one of the Goddess’s books?
“Let’s see… Ah, found it!”
“That book really does have everything written in it, doesn’t it.”
“To be exact, this section explains how to use this specific loom.
It looks like you’re supposed to weave the cloth while threading the yarn through it using the ‘Magic Weaving’ skill.”
“I see, so it’s meant to assist that skill.”
“Right. Okay, then let’s try—ah!”
Just as I thought I’d gotten the hang of it and started threading the silk with Magic Weaving, the thread snapped almost immediately after it began to move.
As expected of Frozen Abyss Spider silk — the difficulty was sky-high.
But I still had more material with me!
No way was I giving up that easily!
… After struggling for a good while, I ended up using up every last bit of the silk I’d brought, without managing to weave a single piece of fabric.
I couldn’t even get it properly set up on the loom.
Ugh, this really is tough!
“Well, that’s about how it goes the first time.”
“Yeah, can’t be helped.”
“The Goddess… did say this would take centuries to master. Even at your pace, it might still take ten years or more.”
Ten years, huh…
That’s a long road ahead.
Still, that’s a lot faster than spending several hundred years practicing.
Guess that’s the Frozen Abyss Spider’s silk for you.
“So then, what will you do, Lily?”
“Eh? About what?”
“Are you taking the loom back with you?”
“Oh, that. I think it’s better to leave it here.
No one else can touch it anyway, and I doubt it can even be taken out of this place.”
“True enough. If there’s no need to remove it, that’s for the best.
The next thing is to test whether we can come here from Vardmoi after returning through the skill crystal vein.”
… Ah, I hadn’t thought of that yet.
It would be a pain to come all the way out to the skill crystal vein every time.
Maybe I can ask the Goddess to let me travel here directly from the mansion next time…
