Lady Conniette and Little Bern Arrive
And so, right on schedule, Lady Conniette and Little Bern arrived.
To be exact, they’d gotten to Vardmoi the day before, and came to visit the next day.
Mm, that’s thoughtful of them.
I’ve been rushing around as a merchant, but I should learn to be more mindful of such things too.
“Lady Lily, it has been some time. Congratulations on your promotion to Platinum-rank.”
“Congratulations, Lady Lily.”
“Mm, thank you, both of you.”
Even Little Bern had started calling me Lady Lily.
She’s at that age where she can’t just be a carefree little girl anymore.
Though her big sister is still pretty wild.
“For now, I’ve got tea prepared—come on out to the terrace. Modalphas, please.”
“Yes. This way, if you would.”
“Y-yes. Yesterday Marquis Vardmoi mentioned it, but it really is true—your butler is of the Vampirekin…”
“I am Modalphas. When Lady Lily established her residence, staff had to be assembled urgently. Lady Plum introduced us—most of us are military men and former court retainers.”
I’d sort of suspected the court connection.
But I didn’t know they were soldiers too.
Would’ve been nice if someone had told me that.
Anyway, Modalphas guided them to the terrace, and in the meantime, I hurried back to my room to change.
Since it’s a tea party, today I’ll be in a dress.
Of course, it’s self-made.
Even so, nothing beats the divine protection of the goddess’s clothes when it comes to defense.
Which is why Kiblinki Saltas’ security was tighter than usual—I’d better be careful.
Once I finished changing and headed to the terrace, Amira was already there chatting with them.
If Modalphas had allowed Amira in, that meant he’d judged it safe.
Best to trust the capable butler’s decision!
“Sorry to keep you waiting.”
“My, Lady Lily. You look beautiful in that dress… Though I admit, I had hoped to see the famous furisode as well.”
“Don’t worry, Lady Conniette. At the presentation, I’ll be wearing a furisode together with Amira.”
“Then I’ll look forward to that. But truly—you never mentioned such an adorable little sister.”
“Strictly speaking, she’s not related by blood. She’s more of a fellow countryman turned little sister. Amira, I think you’ve already greeted them, but one more time, please.”
“Yes. I am Amira, Lady Lily’s younger sister. From now on I expect to appear at social gatherings as well, so I humbly ask for your kind regard.”
… Huh. Lily’s younger sister has a nice ring to it.
No, no, focus!
I should be happy that Amira gave such a proper greeting!
Wait a sec—she was royalty to begin with, wasn’t she?
She must have practiced these formal greetings endlessly.
So… does that mean I’m actually the one who’s not good at this?
My little sister might just be way too competent…
