Little Moira’s Request
Upon entering the Baron Oxitt’s estate, we were greeted by the entire household staff.
Yeah, Alizée had already warned me about my status, so I had anticipated this.
After greeting Baron Oxitt, his wife, Little Moira’s two older brothers, and Little Moira herself, we were escorted to the drawing room.
Still, I wondered if we had interrupted her lessons or anything.
“Well, you see, Silver Merchant Lady, since the esteemed tailor who made dresses for Princess Rodenlight’s family personally came all this way to make a dress for our daughter, we simply couldn’t justify making her attend lessons today…”
“I see. I apologize for the sudden visit.”
“No, no. We had already been informed in advance by Marquis Vardmoi about your expected arrival.”
Ah, so Marquis Vardmoi had been backing me up as well.
As expected, when it comes to noble affairs, he’s reliable.
But… was it really okay to use a marquis just for this?
… Well, since he offered, I guess it’s fine for now.
“So, regarding my daughter’s dress…”
“Yes. Since there weren’t any specific requests, I thought it would be best to discuss it in person and confirm what kind of dress she’d like.”
“Oh, how terribly rude of us…”
“Please don’t worry about it. That’s just how I do things. On the way here, I sketched a dress idea. What do you think?”
The dress I proposed was designed to resemble the deep darkness of the night, with pearls and glass beads sewn in to represent the stars.
Since I wasn’t sure if this world had constellations, I just arranged them in a pleasing way.
Additionally, the scarf wrapped around the neck was black with silver threads woven in, mimicking the Milky Way.
Since the order was for a “subdued dress,” I wasn’t sure if it would meet their expectations, but I showed them the sketch anyway.
Now, how would they react?
“Ohh… this will be my daughter’s dress?”
“Amazing… I can’t believe such a dress can be made.”
“So this is Moira’s dress? That’s incredible.”
“Yeah. She usually only wears much simpler dresses.”
“… It’s beautiful.”
Good, even Little Moira seemed to like it.
However, Little Bern, who came along, was the only one looking dissatisfied.
What didn’t she like about it?
“Hey, Big sister Lily, Little Moira. Isn’t this a little boring as it is?”
“Little Bern?”
“Little Moira, don’t you think so too?”
“Uh… umm…”
Hmm, Little Bern really is Young lady Kou’s sister.
When she pushes for something, she really pushes.
If I don’t rein her in a little, she might end up becoming a spoiled child.
“Little Bern, you shouldn’t force your preferences onto others.”
“Big sister Lily?”
“You’re a marquis’s daughter, and Little Moira is a baron’s daughter. That means you have the higher status. If you insist too strongly, Little Moira won’t be able to say anything.”
“Oh… you’re right. I’m sorry, Big sister Lily, Little Moira.”
Little Bern seemed to understand.
Good girl.
But Little Moira still looked like she wanted to say something.
If she had something on her mind, I needed to hear it all.
“Little Moira, do you have any other ideas?”
“Eh? But my ideas…”
“It’s fine. If it’s too difficult, I’ll let you know, so just tell me everything.”
“O-Okay. Um… I’d like to have the moon in the night sky. A red moon that’s crescent-shaped and a blue moon that’s full. And… I’d also like a design that represents the dawn, not just the night.”
“A representation of dawn?”
“Yes. I love the sky when the morning sun starts to blend with the night.”
I see, a dawn-colored sky.
And she also wanted to include the moon.
In this world, there were two moons—one red and one blue.
I had never looked into why they were different colors, but normally, their waxing and waning cycles were the same.
However, Little Moira preferred them to be different.
I could visualize how to express this in a design, so technically, it was possible.
The real issue was the cost.
This would be quite a complex design, and since Alizée, the financial overseer, was here, I couldn’t just lower the price on a whim.
… What should I do?
What do you think about this chapter?
Hmm, will Lily be able to make the design change and come within the price range??
Hm, moons with such distinct colors, that might be magical stuff. Usually planets have colors due to their atmosphere but moons tend to be very small and unable to maintain gaseous atmosphere, thus they look gray-white. One more clue we need is how fast they circle the planet since two moons having the same orbit is almost impossible IRL. KSP left me with knowledge of space stuff, lolz.
Thanks for the chapter! Awesome translation! May God bless you!
