Impressions of Parfe from Young lady Kou and Young Lord Vic
“Wheee! So high up! But it’s not nearly as shaky as a horse! This is fun!”
“Kou, don’t get too carried away. Still… this monster really is calm.”
I had Young lady Kou and Young lord Vic interact with the Parfe I’ve tamed.
Young lady Kou was riding on a Parfe’s back, strolling around the ranch, while Young lord Vic gently stroked a Parfe that was lying down.
… And now I see why Young lady Kou wasn’t wearing a skirt today.
“Ahh, that was fun. Thanks a lot.”
“Gug-guu!”
“… Sorry, I have no idea what that means. Lily, can you translate?”
“He says he had fun too. Parfe are apparently a species that enjoy being given work to do.”
“Huh, work? Like what?”
“Well, both of you came here riding in a Parfe carriage instead of a regular wagon, right? They can pull carts just like horses. But they’re far stronger than horses and can keep pulling without rest for much longer. With a normal wagon, you have to stop every few hours to rest the horses, but with a Parfe carriage, you only need to stop when the passengers need a break.”
“That’s pretty impressive. But what do you plan to do with them after bringing them back?”
“Hmmm… Originally, it was just a few that wanted to come along, so I thought I’d let them help with farming or something simple… but things have gotten a bit more complicated.”
“More complicated? How so?”
At this point, Young lord Vic, who had been petting the Parfe while listening, asked the obvious question.
Well, anyone would want to know.
“Lord Riku, one of the Eight Seats—the Dark Seat—requested that I send more Kiblinki Saltas over. In exchange, the Isles of the Eight Gods will lend us more Parfes. So… what should I do?”
“Hmm, ‘what should I do’… I can’t make that decision myself. If we’re talking about hundreds of them coming over, we’d need strict management to prevent them from going feral. We’d also need to fully understand their temperament. In the end, we’ll have to wait for the Tamers’ Guildmasters to arrive and discuss it with them.”
“Yeah… I know. They really are hard workers and good-natured creatures though.”
“That much, huh? By the way, just how dangerous are these Parfes if they do get violent?”
“Well… they’re extremely docile by nature, so I doubt they’d lash out unless their lives were truly in danger. But their raw strength is considerable. If you tried restraining them with chains or something, they’d probably break free.”
“Got it. That’s useful to know… Though judging by what I’ve seen, rather than chaining them up, the smart approach would be to create a comfortable environment and co-exist with them.”
Young lord Vic really is sharp.
If Parfes are needlessly restrained, they tend to panic and break free.
That’s why creating an environment where they feel safe and want to stay voluntarily is the best approach.
I wonder if people back in the McFarlane Dukedom will understand that too?
What do you think about this chapter?
I guess Lily will create a ranch for them.
Thanks for the treat.
Young lord Vic might have experience of dealing with hard to restrain individuals (a certain noble lady present here).
Thanks for the chapter! Awesome translation! May God bless you!
