Parfe Ranch Experience
Leaving Rumaja aside, the next day we headed to Parfe Ranch.
I wondered—had either of them seen a Parfe before?
“That cow-like monster, right? I’ve seen them pulling carts in town.”
“Me too. And my sister told me so much about them…”
Lady Kou, what exactly are you telling your little sister?
It’s not like she needs an explanation—she’s going to meet them in person anyway.
Well, I’ll just let her be.
When it comes to Parfes, she turns into a different person.
Like a child.
Once we passed out of town, we soon saw the ranch guarded by the Kiblinki Saltas.
This was the Parfe Tourist Ranch.
“So you can’t see them from the outside?”
“It used to be open, but some idiots showed up trying to spook the Parfes. So we completely blocked the view.”
Really, such worthless people.
At first glance the wall looks like plain wooden boards, but it’s a disguise—sandwiched between them are Talat planks.
And near the top, Talat’s capture-threads are wrapped tightly in layers, so anyone who tries to climb over will get stuck and never come down.
It’s a very fitting trap for a ranch protected by spiders.
Word spread after a fool actually got caught in it.
“Lady Lily, what are Parfes like? I can’t wait to meet them!”
“Just a little longer, Young Lady Bern. Hey, Kiblinki Saltas, can we go in?”
(It’s the Master. We’ve been notified. You may enter.)
Good to see they’re doing their gatekeeping properly.
Though every now and then we still get the message, “We weren’t notified, but Kou showed up.”
Until now, we let her through since it’d be awkward to turn her away.
But from now on, we can proudly send her back!
Anyway, how are the Parfes doing?
“Goo-guu! (It’s the Master!)”
“Guuu! (Hello!)”
“Hello there. I brought some friends with me today.”
“Goo? (Friends?)”
“This is Lady Conniette of Galette territory, and Young Lady Bern, the second daughter of Marquis Vardmoi.”
“Gugoo? (Never heard of Galette?)”
“Gu-guguu (Oh, Kou’s little sister!)”
Ah, right. These kids don’t know a thing about the country.
Telling them about territories doesn’t really mean much.
“Um, Lady Lily?”
“Yes, Lady Conniette?”
“Are you… talking with this familiar?”
“Yes. Oh, these little ones can talk with their master. And if you go through the Kiblinki Saltas, normal people can communicate too.”
“I see. What clever monsters.”
“Guu~ (Not really~)”
“So this is the Parfe my sister spoke of… It truly is a large cow.”
“Gugguu? (Kou’s little sister, won’t you ride us?)”
“Umm, Lady Lily?”
Ah, of course—she can’t understand them.
But is it okay to explain?
Well, they’ll find out sooner or later anyway. Might as well.
“Young Lady Kou always rides the Parfes whenever she visits, just for fun. They’re asking if you’d like to ride too.”
“Eh, I can?!”
“As long as they don’t get rowdy, the Kiblinki Saltas will steady you. It’s perfectly safe. Would you like to try as well, Lady Conniette?”
“Yes, I’d like to experience it at least once.”
Alright! Both of them are going to have a monster-riding experience!
I wonder what they’ll think of it.
What do you think about this chapter?
