Installing the Goddess’s Statue
While we were busy preparing food and sleeping gear, it seemed the statues were already finished.
Seriously—what incredible speed.
“It was a private commission. I had to make sure it was done quickly.”
Hannon said with a smile.
“Thank you so much. And wow, it really looks exactly like the design drawing.”
“Well, you gave me an incredibly detailed sketch. Still… who is this goddess, I wonder? She doesn’t look like any of the elemental gods.”
“Oh, don’t worry, she’s not an evil one or anything. Anyway, here’s the payment. Thanks again!”
After leaving the coins behind, I took all three statues and hurried straight back to the mansion.
I really didn’t want too many people seeing them—for… various reasons.
Once back, I started placing the statues where they belonged.
The first one went in the room where the kagura stage was set up.
That room got plenty of sunlight, though I’d made sure to have the stage treated so it wouldn’t fade.
Now, as for the statue—it should probably go right in front, facing the door.
“Hmm. So you see the statue the moment you walk in?”
“Yes. Is that a problem?”
“Not particularly. At most, the maids will jump a little until they get used to it.”
Ah. I hadn’t considered that.
I thought about cleaning the room myself to avoid that issue, but apparently that’d be “taking away a maid’s duty.”
So I was only allowed to polish the statue itself.
Fine by me—daily statue care sounds like a good new habit.
“Next is the one for my room.”
“You called it a kamidana, yes? What exactly is that?”
“It’s like a miniature shrine you set up high up on a shelf to pray at every day. Think of it as a compact home temple.”
“… You’re certain nothing strange will happen because of this?”
“I’m fairly sure nothing will, unless my life’s actually in danger.”
With that, I used a bit of flight magic to install a shelf higher than my own height.
I couldn’t make the miniature shrine myself, so I’d have to commission Hannon again later.
For now, I set the smallest statue there—perfect.
“All that’s left is the statue for the Goddess’s cabin.”
“Ahh, that one.”
“Is something wrong?”
“Well, it is the Goddess’s cabin. Putting a statue that large there and then praying… what if it triggers another miracle?”
“Oh, come on, miracles don’t happen that easily. Now, come on, let’s go.”
Despite her reluctance, I dragged Plum along and flew to the Goddess’s cabin.
Fani stayed behind in my room—if all three of us vanished, someone might start asking awkward questions later.
“Let’s see… this spot should be good for the cabin statue.”
“Got it. Like this?”
“Yes, perfect. Wow, it turned out amazing.”
“It truly did. This would fit right in a proper temple.”
“Exactly! Well then, shall we offer our prayers before heading back?”
“Aye… let’s just hope nothing unusual happens.”
Since I hadn’t prepared any offerings, we prayed empty-handed this time—but that was fine.
Once we’d finished, we left the cabin.
And with that, the real work would begin—training, practice, and refinement.
Of course, I still had to handle things with the Saltas Company and a dozen other tasks first.
But hey, one step at a time!
