Going to Catastie to Pick Up the Parfes
With the kimono design settled, it was finally time to go pick up the Parfes.
As planned, Marquis Vardmoi would be coming along.
For some reason, Kou was tagging along too.
Was he planning to ride the Parfes even in front of Marquis Vardmoi?
Thanks to the newly maintained highway to Catastie, if we left Vardmoi early in the morning by magic vehicle, we’d arrive in Catastie by evening.
Incidentally, I had also contributed to the funding of this road project.
“Still, the road to Catastie has really improved. Thanks to your investment, we had enough budget to spare during construction.”
“I use it daily for transporting seafood, after all. It’s only natural for the road connecting Catastie and Vardmoi to be safe and comfortable.”
“Looks like seafood imports are going well too.”
“Seafood wasn’t that common in Vardmoi, but in the last few years, it’s started selling well. Fish, especially, are easy to understand and popular.”
“That’s how it goes.”
Since I invested in the road, I got a tax reduction on seafood imports. It’ll still take a few years to recoup my investment, but the tax break lasts for twenty years, so it should be fine in the long run. It was an investment made with future gains in mind.
“So, about these Parfes. Where are they?”
“They’re at a ranch just outside the gate. Since the gates have already closed for the day, we’ll have to wait until tomorrow.”
“Understood.”
That night, we stayed at Marquis Vardmoi’s secondary residence, and the next morning, we headed to the ranch where the Parfes were kept.
The Parfes were lounging around as they pleased, looking as carefree as ever.
“Guggoo! (Ah, it’s Master!)”
“Long time no see. How’ve you been?”
“Goo! Gugoo? (I’ve been good! Who’s that person?)”
“That’s my superior.”
“So these are Parfes. They really do look just like cows.”
“Googoo! (Nice to meet you!)”
“… What did it just say?”
“It says ‘Nice to meet you,’ apparently.”
“I thought they were supposed to be timid?”
“Maybe they’re fine since I’m here, along with Talat and Kiblinki Saltas.”
Honestly, I wasn’t too sure about these things.
Sometimes they got skittish over nothing, and sometimes they wandered around out of curiosity.
I wished they were a bit more cautious.
“So, is it alright if I take them back to Vardmoi?”
“Hmm, it doesn’t seem to be a problem. The ranch shows no signs of being damaged, and from what I’ve observed here, they don’t seem to get agitated by me or the guards. I doubt there will be any trouble bringing them to Vardmoi.”
“Thank you. I’ll get things ready and escort them to Vardmoi.”
“Very well. By the way, how many days will it take them to walk to Vardmoi?”
To Vardmoi… let’s see.
“About three days, I think. They walk slowly, so it’s bound to take time. They’ve got the stamina to keep walking, but we should stick to safer routes.”
“I see. Then I’ll head back ahead of you.”
“Understood. Thank you.”
With that, Marquis Vardmoi’s inspection was complete.
Young Lady Kou ended up leaving without accomplishing anything.
Honestly, did she really think she could ride one in front of Marquis Vardmoi?
What do you think about this chapter?
Was he planning to ride the Parfes even in front of Marquis Vardmoi? -> Was she planning to ride the Parfes even in front of Marquis Vardmoi? (referring to Kou)
Thanks.🖖
