Arrival at the Island of the Eight Gods, Daikou Island
Thanks to favorable weather, the ship reached the Isles of the Eight Gods in exactly three days, just as planned.
The ship docked at a place called “Daikou Island,” which serves as the island’s gateway for contact with foreign nations.
There’s apparently another area called “Gaikou Island” on the opposite side of the Isle of the Eight Gods, but it can’t accommodate large vessels.
All large ships like the magic-powered one we used this time seem to come to Daikou Island.
After disembarking at Daikou Island, we temporarily parted ways with Kiri and Lady Byaku and went to stay at our lodging facility.
It seems they had already been informed of our arrival and are preparing a welcoming banquet for us.
How should I put this… we’re really being treated as honored guests.
Anyway, now that we’ve arrived at the inn, it’s time for a meeting to go over what lies ahead.
“We finally made it. I really can’t handle sea travel.”
“Huh? Priscilla, you get seasick?”
“I always do. Even though the Vardmoi territory includes a trading port, my jurisdiction is only the city of Vardmoi. I grew up inland, so I never had much to do with ships. You and the others seemed fine, though, Lily?”
“Well, more or less. So, what’s the plan from here?”
“Right, let’s talk about that first. Two days from now, an envoy from Lady Byaku will come to pick us up. We’ll head together to ‘Taisha Island,’ which is the main island of the Eight Gods. After that, the welcoming banquet will be held. Two days after the banquet, the official negotiations will begin.”
“So, two days after the banquet.”
“Apparently, there’s one of the Eight Seats who really loves to party. If they held the meeting the next day, some would still be too hungover to think straight, so they schedule it for two days later.”
They really do seem like easygoing people.
I’m not the type to rush things either, so it suits me fine, but they probably wouldn’t get along with impatient types.
“In the official negotiations, the first topic will be about the education of merchants. We’ve already received a direct response about this from Lady Byaku, who holds the Light Seat, so it’ll just be a matter of confirming their stance.
Next will be the agricultural partnership—specifically, the lending of the Kiblinki Saltas, Lily.”
“Oh, I’m the second agenda item?”
“To them, the merchant issue is the biggest, and this comes right after that. For this, an agreement has already been reached with Lady Kiri, who holds the Water Seat and oversees agriculture.
All that’s left is to have it checked by the one in charge of public safety, the Lord of the Darkness Seat. If there are no issues, it’ll be officially finalized.”
Ah, so Kiri is in charge of agriculture.
No wonder she took such an interest in farming.
After that, it looks like there will be discussions about the export of magic tools, attracting workshops, arrangements for related costs, mediating with trade guilds on the Isles of the Eight Gods, and negotiating the goods to be traded between our countries.
While all that’s happening, I’m supposed to go solve the water management issue in the village experiencing water problems that Kiri mentioned.
When it comes to complicated matters, Priscilla is clearly better suited for them, so I’ll leave it to her.
If I stick my nose in where it doesn’t belong, it’s bound to cause trouble anyway!
