Tourism Development of the Parfe Ranch
The carriage modifications were going to take some time.
So as a temporary solution, we decided to open the ranch where Parfes currently lived to the public.
The fencing had been reinforced to prevent monsters from entering from the outside, and measures were taken to ensure children couldn’t wander off on their own.

Parfes, being monsters rather than an ordinary cows, seemed to have strong resistance to infectious diseases, so there weren’t any issues with letting people see them directly.
Preparations were completed in just a few days, so we immediately began accepting visitors.

“... This is an incredible number of applications.”

“It truly is. I expected there’d be some interest, but this is beyond imagination.”

We had limited operations to only one day a week—the Dark Day, which is typically a day off—and that alone generated overwhelming interest from families.
Since the number of Parfes was limited, and it wouldn’t be enjoyable if the place got too crowded, we had people apply through the Trade Guild.

Then came a mountain of applications.
Even with a requirement for parental supervision (because the ranch is outside the city walls and unsafe for children alone), the demand was overwhelming.
We had clearly underestimated Parfes popularity.
Setting the open day on the Dark Day, when most shops are closed, probably helped too.

“Well then, shall we select the lucky first group of visitors?”

“How many families are we taking this time?”

“Let’s start small for the first time—say, 80 families. If we have enough capacity, we can increase it next time.”

“Got it. Still, that cow-thing sure is popular.”

“Cow-thing... Well, they do kind of look like one.”

We busily sorted through the first round of applications, dividing the winners from the non-winners.
Those who didn’t win would get priority in the next round, but that meant those applying later would have to wait even longer.
This venture was going to be more work than I thought.

“Thank you for waiting! We’ll now guide you to the ranch!”

“Ah! The cow is pulling the carriage!”

“Goo! (That’s right!)”

“Nice to meet you, cow!”

Since the custom Parfe-carriage wasn’t ready in time, we hastily bought a pair of unsold city carriages and modified them.
Specifically, we added front-facing seats that hadn’t been installed.
We also used high-quality cushions to improve the seating experience.
Only two were ready, so they had to shuttle back and forth.

“Parfes really are popular, huh? How about making more of your customized carriages, Lady Lily?”

“We’ll decide that after we see how the first one performs. That one was a custom order from Lumite Company, so it’s not something we can easily reproduce.”

“Ah, I’ve heard it uses special technology.”

“Yes. I proposed the idea and they implemented it. It’s licensed for their use as long as I get a portion of the profits. I think they’ve started including it in their high-end models.”

“... Could you not expand your business ventures behind my back?”

“I file my taxes every year, Alizée. You’ve seen them, haven’t you?”

“That’s not the issue... But if it’s already set in motion, then I suppose it can’t be helped.”

Alizée said, holding her head in her hands, but from my perspective, it wasn’t anything worth fussing over.

While we were talking, the first Parfe carriage departed.
As expected from Parfe, it moved slowly but steadily, and its strong, rhythmic gait helped reduce the carriage’s sway.
That’s probably why the ones on the Isles of the Eight Gods are also smooth rides.
I’m not sure of the mechanics, but for now, let’s hop in our magic-powered vehicle and follow them.
