Dragon-scale Armor and Escort Suits
All right, finished!
After putting in the effort, seven sets of dragon-scale armor and two escort suits were completed in two weeks.
At first it was just for Wildcat Claws and Lana, but once word got out that the armor used real dragon scales, Fanny and Juna also wanted sets.
There was no shortage of material, so I ended up making sets for the whole adventurer group.
Plum said she didn’t need one, so I didn’t make hers.
Plum’s armor is apparently stronger—what could be stronger than dragon scales?
Anyway, time to give everyone their armor.
"This is... amazing armor! It protects you so well, but it doesn't feel restrictive at all!"
"... And it's so sturdy. With this, it looks like we could block any attack."
"This is incredible—are there really adventurers who get to wear armor like this?"
"Um, those gems embedded here—those are all orbs, right? What effects do they have?"
Of course Tomoa noticed the best part. I needed to explain how they worked.
"I put ‘mana absorption’ and ‘breath reflection’ orbs in every suit. We had extra summoning cards, so they were used for that. Oh, Fanny and the others’ armor has the same orbs."
"… ‘Mana absorption’ means it decomposes used magic and absorbs it, right?"
"Basically. Very powerful spells will only be reduced, but most spells should be handled."
"… No ordinary armor would incorporate something like that. This is absurd."
Even if they call it absurd, it's not my fault—I had them and so I made use of them.
When I explained that I also put a standard ‘self-repair’ enchantment on every set, they reacted even more like it was impossible.
The trouble is that enchanters who can apply ‘self-repair’ are rare, so it’s not something you can casually add everywhere.
But I can cast it myself, so I do.
Fanny folded up and buried her face in her hands when I said that. Strange.
"Well, I added various functions, but the basics are: increased durability, enhanced self-repair, and faster wound healing."
"Even if you say 'basics'…"
"Come on now. There’s a second outfit."
I handed them the other outfit: a coat-style escort suit. That suit also has ‘self-regeneration’, ‘mana absorption’, and ‘breath reflection’.
Since it’s clothing, I piled on enchantments for ‘impact mitigation’ as well.
All of it is made from Talat’s silk, so regular blades can’t cut it.
The real danger is blunt impact fracturing bones, so the main countermeasure is against shock.
"We who received these are saying this, but... honestly, these items are unreal..."
"... You guarded such an unreasonable employer for over four years?"
"Well, yeah. In actual fighting power it’s mostly Talat and Plum, so we’ve acted more as visible deterrents, I suppose."
"... I guess. If this kind of gear keeps appearing, we can’t afford to slack off. If some cheap thug kidnaps you, they could end up raising an unstoppable army."
No, I don’t want that to happen.
To kidnap me they’d have to get past Plum first, and even if they did, there are multiple Kiblinki Saltas and Talat to deal with.
Thinking about it like that, Amira might be a bit short on escorts.
Maybe I should find someone good to fill that gap.
What do you think about this chapter?
Who would pick a fight with Lily?
Thanks for the chapter.
