Tasting the Dishes for the Welcome
The day after I asked the head chef to try out some dishes with Parfe’s milk.
And just like that, he’d already arranged a tasting session.
Honestly, everyone in this house works so fast.
Now then, what sort of things did he come up with?
“Ah, Lady Lily. Thank you again for yesterday.”
“Not at all. So, are these today’s trial dishes?”
“Yes. There are still a few things that need baking, so please wait at that table for now.”
Hmm, so there’s more coming.
The ones already here I was told I could eat freely, so I asked a servant to bring some over.
Let’s start with pudding.
“Oh wow, this pudding is incredibly rich!”
“It really is. I’ve never tasted pudding like this before.”
This world does have pudding.
But it always lacked depth, that creamy richness.
And yet, this version had fixed that perfectly.
Just this alone was already satisfying!
Next up… that one, maybe.
“Hey, could you bring me that brown-looking piece over there?”
“At once.”
“Big sis, is that a sweet too?”
“Yup. If it turned out well, it should be crispy and sweet.”
If the chef put it out here, then there’s no way it failed.
Alright, just one bite…
“Mmm! Crispy outside, and the cream inside is so rich!”
“It’s sweet and delicious, big sis!”
As expected of our head chef—he actually made cream puffs.
And even with fresh cream inside, it wasn’t leaking out.
Parfe milk cream must be unbelievably thick.
After nibbling on a few more sweets, the head chef came out from the kitchen with a round loaf of bread and a flat, round cake.
So those are ready too!
“Here we are—milk bread and pancakes. These taste best fresh, so I baked them just now. Please, enjoy them while they’re warm.”
“Alright, let’s try. …Ohhh! The milk bread is sweet, rich, and melts in your mouth!”
“And these pancakes are amazing! They’re fluffy, soft, and even without toppings they’re so sweet my cheeks might melt off!”
“I kneaded Parfe cream into both of them. It was just an experiment, but it seems Parfe cream, when baked into bread or pancakes, makes them softer and naturally sweet. It’s a bit of work to make the cream, but enough for four people isn’t a problem.”
Hmm, only enough for four servings, huh.
I’d like a bit more impact than that.
Maybe it’s time to bring Lana into this a little early.
“Hey, Lana. Do you think you could make some kind of magitech tool to produce whipped cream?”
“Depending on the design, I think so. Using centrifugal separation should make it relatively simple. If it works, let us try that bread too.”
When I checked with the chef, he said all that’s needed is the cream and the Parfe milk itself—no sugar or anything else.
So, if Lana can make the tool, I promised I’d have her bake more milk bread to share.
Honestly, Lana is always so easy to bribe with food.
… Is she really a gold-rank adventurer?
… Well, I’m going to become a platinum-rank merchant, so I guess it’s about the same thing.
