Meeting with the Eight Seats – What to Do About the Parfes
With the medicine discussion wrapped up, the next topic was about the Parfes who declared they wanted to cross the sea.
It looked like Lord Riku of the Dark Seat would be explaining this matter.
“As for the Parfes, it seems their desire to cross the sea is firm. It’s not for sightseeing—they want to work across the sea.”
“Work…?”
“The Parfes’ primary work is pulling carts, assisting with farming—physical labor, in short. The Parfes are incredibly strong. They’re perfectly suited for that kind of work.”
That much is true—the Parfes are unbelievably strong.
Even six Kiblinki Saltas couldn’t pull against them.
But aren’t the Parfes considered precious partners on these islands?
Is it really okay to just let them leave so easily?
“Think of it as part of the compensation for borrowing the Kiblinki Saltas. Paying for monsters with other monsters might seem odd, but since the Parfes themselves wish to leave, it provides a reason. If the McFarlane Dukedom is willing to take them in, I’d like them to go.”
“Hmm… I’ve already contacted my superior, Marquis Vardmoi, and the Tamers’ Guild of McFarlane about this. We’re still waiting on their response. I can’t make that decision alone.”
“Even so, that’s plenty. I’m grateful.”
After that, Lord Riku explained a few important things about taking care of Parfes.
The most critical rule—never kill a Parfe.
If you kill a Parfe, the others will regard you as an enemy and refuse to obey.
Besides, their meat is tough and unpleasant to eat anyway.
In short, killing a Parfe is strictly forbidden if you intend to keep them.
Next, though Parfes may seem easygoing, they apparently love to work while in human care.
Even the recently rescued Parfes have been pestering Lord Riku, asking for jobs.
Of course, there aren’t enough tasks to suddenly accommodate that many new Parfes, so for now, they’ve been told to play around.
That explains why they’ve been playing with the Kiblinki Saltas. Makes sense now.
Also, Parfes produce milk, which, once pasteurized, is drinkable and can be processed into cheese and other products.
They really are like dairy cattle.
Making cheese requires skilled workers, so if the Parfes do go to McFarlane, craftsmen will be dispatched as well.
That’ll be a huge help.
And so, the matter of the Parfes was settled without any opposition from the Eight Seats, leaving only the response from McFarlane.
I really hope I can bring the Parfes home…
What do you think about this chapter?
Lily definitely wants Parfes🐄; it can provide milk🥛 and cheese 🧀. Plus Partes are hardworking, too.
Thanks.
Beef denied, though now that I think about it, I don't remember what are their sources of meat.
Thanks for the chapter! Awesome translation! May God bless you!
