Meeting Between Kou and Lord Sazaby (2)
“Our request is for access to the Darshe Principality’s advanced magic technology. I do not expect you to hand over all of it at once. At the very least, could you send some of your skilled technicians?”
So that’s what Young Lady Kou wants.
I doubt it’s really her personal wish—this has “Marquis Vardmoi’s plan” written all over it.
But… I wonder if it’s really that simple.
“I understand your request. To be blunt, it’s… difficult.”
“As expected…”
“I suppose this was a conclusion you had anticipated.”
“Yes. With such a gap in magic technology, I assumed we wouldn’t receive a favorable response even if we requested it.”
“Indeed. Some of our magic techniques are top secret. They cannot be handed out easily.”
As expected, it’s difficult.
I had already given up on importing magic tools from the start anyway.
“However, I must commend you for having the courage to make a direct request. That said, magic tool techniques themselves cannot be handed over.”
“No need for you to overextend yourself.”
“Lily, I’d like to sell some magic tools to your company. What do you think?”
Huh?
Wait, the responsibility’s being passed to me now?
“Your company is trustworthy. Would you be willing to handle small ignition devices or magic tools designed to repel weak insect-type monsters?”
Ignition devices…
Kind of like lighters in the previous world, maybe?
Repelling insects probably means producing smells they dislike.
I’d have to make sure Talat and the Kiblinki Saltas aren’t affected, but otherwise, it seems manageable.
Alright, let’s go with this.
“Understood. I’ll handle the import of these magic tools.”
“Good. I’ll also send a maintenance team along with the tools. They should be able to understand some of the technical aspects.”
In other words, they’re expecting to glean knowledge from the tools I’m importing.
Which means the items sent my way are probably going to be safe for non-military use.
I don’t mind that at all.
“By the way, Lily, why didn’t you request any magic tools during our meeting?”
“The technological gap between us and the Darshe Principality is too wide. Handling their products carelessly could spark trouble.”
“Fair enough… but it’s okay this time? Your main strategist isn’t present here.”
“When the Grand Duke himself issues an order, it’s impossible to refuse.”
“True. Perhaps I’ll send her a little gift later.”
And with that, the meeting concluded.
Young Lady Kou’s plan didn’t go as she hoped, but through me, some technology could still be gained—a decent outcome overall.
As expected, Alizée seemed to have given up.
Even she cannot overturn Grand Duke Sazaby’s direct command.
A few days later, the wine and dishes they sent were reportedly enjoyed by everyone.
I wonder what they sent…
What do you think about this chapter?
Thanks for the treat.
