Distribution of Kiblinki Saltas to the Villages of the Isles of the Eight Gods
“{Thank you so much. This’ll make farm work a whole lot easier.}”
(Thank you. They say farm work will be easier.)
“Yeah. Please don’t overwork them though, okay?”
Once the delegation from the McFarlane Dukedom finished their inspection, we resumed the plan to distribute the Kiblinki Saltas to villages across the Isles of the Eight Gods.
Many of the target villages were poor, so there were high hopes for improvement.
I did warn them that turning things around in just a few years might not be realistic, but the Kiblinki Saltas were highly motivated—so honestly, things might look completely different in two years.
In addition, Lord Riku’s tamed Parfes would also be distributed to these villages.
Parfes don’t naturally live across the entire archipelago that makes up the Isles of the Eight Gods—they’re only found on certain islands, including the central Taisha Island.
On top of that, Parfes are curious but also highly cautious, and apparently, they rarely grow attached to people outside a few specific tamers.
Seems I’m quite the exception… Well, tamed Parfes essentially abandon their wild instincts.
Even so, with the Kiblinki Saltas around, the Parfes agreed to help with village work.
Both the villagers and Lord Riku’s subordinates had requested this, so we decided to distribute one Parfe to each village alongside the Kiblinki Saltas.
That brings up the biggest issue: food for the Parfes—their grass.
As for barns to house the Parfes, in the worst case, they could work together with the Kiblinki Saltas to cut down trees and build them themselves.
The fences surrounding the pastures could be handled the same way.
In fact, with Kiblinki Saltas acting as guards, most monsters wouldn’t even be able to get close, and if a monster that *could* get past them showed up, well… that’d mean the whole village would be doomed anyway.
So honestly, the hardest part is ensuring food for the Parfé.
The Kiblinki Saltas would gather mountain plants for themselves and the villagers until the crops were ready, so they were fine.
(Contractor, is there any grass that grows quickly?)
“Well… The same grass seed used for Parfe pastures on Taisha Island takes about a month to grow.”
(A month, huh…? Then it’d be best to bring the Parfes over once the grass has grown.)
“Agreed. I’ll arrange for those grass seeds immediately. I’ll make sure we have enough to distribute to all the villages we visit.”
(You’re quick to act—good. By the way… why aren’t Parfes already placed in the villages? All you’d need are pastures and barns, right? There’s no way someone like Riku wouldn’t have thought of that.)
“Well… This is hard to say, but… it’s because the villagers can’t protect the Parfes. When left alone, Parfes make easy prey for carnivorous monsters. They’d be worth stealing, even at considerable risk.”
(I see. So this time, you are lending them out with us, Kiblinki Saltas, doubling as their guards.)
“That’s right. I know it’s a lot to ask, but can I count on you?”
(Of course. They’re good folks—we won’t let the monsters have their way.)
The Kiblinki Saltas sounded so gallant.
Still, the truth is that Parfes can’t be lent out without protection.
They’d definitely make farm work easier, but it’s not as simple as that.
I hope the Kiblinki Saltas and Parfes get along well together.
What do you think about this chapter?
Thanks for the treat. 👍
True, even a tank got weakpoints, only a decently large number can stay safe by covering each other as much as possible. Probably 10 or more would be required, since some can be sick or sleeping at any time.
Thanks for the chapter! Awesome translation! May God bless you!
