Meeting with Young lady Conniette
Upon arriving at the lord’s mansion, we had our meeting with Young lady Conniette, which wrapped up quickly.
Well, this land has always had Kiblinki Saltas wandering around, so there wasn’t much need for further discussion.
"By the way, Lady Lily, are you truly fine with lending out the Kiblinki Saltas at such a low rate?"
"It’s fine. Just make sure to feed them properly in return."
"We will, of course… But, Marquis Vardmoi?"
"If Lily says it’s fine, then it’s fine. That amount isn’t low enough for me to interfere."
When arranging the loan of the Kiblinki Saltas, we set the rental fee quite low.
Of course, we can’t make special exceptions just for Count Galette’s territory, so we plan to offer the same low rate to other regions as well.
In exchange, if the Kiblinki Saltas ever feel they are being mistreated, they are free to return to Vardmoi at any time.
So while the rental is cheap, if they’re treated poorly, they’ll leave immediately—consider that a warning.
"So, where is the new settlement going to be?"
"We plan to branch off from the road leading to Connie Village and establish two villages. Initially, we intended to build only one, but with the increasing number of Kiblinki Saltas, we decided to expand to two."
Wait, is it really okay to change plans so suddenly?
I felt a bit concerned, but Young lady Conniette assured me, "It’s fine."
Is it really?
"There’s no need to worry. We’ve already gathered settlers. The roads aren’t finished yet, but we’ve started setting up the villages. The Kiblinki Saltas can begin working there as soon as tomorrow."
"I see. In that case, may I go check on the progress as well?"
"Of course. You are welcome to visit. What about you, Marquis Vardmoi?"
"I shall go as well. I’d like to see how the Kiblinki Saltas cultivate the fields."
"Understood. Let’s visit together, then. When would you like to depart?"
"I apologize, but my schedule isn’t very flexible. Would tomorrow be acceptable?"
"Then tomorrow it is. My estate is rather simple, but please rest here for the night."
With our plans set for tomorrow, Marquis Vardmoi and Young lady Kou left the room.
That left just me, Alizée, and Young lady Conniette for business discussions.
"Lady Lily, Lady Alizée, thank you for always purchasing Connie."
"No problem, we’re making a profit from it as well. Right, Alizée?"
"Indeed. Since Lady Lily holds the exclusive rights to sell Connies, it has been highly profitable. It was originally described as a summer fruit, but is it still available?"
"About half of the stock we’ve shipped remains in the frozen storage. We check its condition before selling, but at this pace, it should sell out by the start of winter."
"Understood. I’ll report that when I return. By the way, have you found any new crops?"
I was curious about that too.
The Kiblinki Saltas had said there was no harvest this year, but was there really nothing at all?
"Unfortunately, we haven’t discovered any truly new crops. We did acquire some seeds, but since we are still researching how to grow them, it will take several years before they can be cultivated for trade."
"I see. Then we’ll wait for that time to come."
"Yes, please be patient."
Hmm, so it’ll be a few more years before anything new.
But before that, the Kiblinki Saltas might find some wild fruits.
I’ll put my hopes in them.
What do you think about this chapter?
Thanks for the treat.
