Talat’s 3rd Evolution
After stopping by the Trade Guild to collect the money that had been deposited so far, I decided how to allocate it—primarily toward donations.
The donation is to support the reconstruction efforts in the Royal Capital.
While some of the funds will go directly to the Capital, the larger portion is to cover the costs of transporting resources and manpower from Vardmoi for the reconstruction.
It seems this will also boost Vardmoi’s economy.
Very clever.
I was also advised to buy a standard-sized magic vehicle for transportation around the city.
Apparently, it’s becoming too dangerous to walk everywhere.
The plan is to ride with my escorts and enhance the vehicle's defense using special metals, but they want me to get a magic car that still falls under the category of general vehicles.
Since there’s no issue with that, I decided to go car shopping with Alizée.
I’m still inexperienced in this area, and Alizée probably knows what specs are necessary.
I feel like I’m always leaving the brainwork to her, but it’s faster and more accurate that way...
Anyway, I’ve finally made it home, and now it’s time to give the magic stones to Talat.
It’s actually been a while since I last fed Talat any magic stones.
Over the winter, Talat’s appetite was low because he had consumed too much of the cursed orb’s magic.
Now that he’s back to normal, I’m sure he’ll eat just fine.
I’ve accumulated quite a few magic stones—can he eat them all?
"Talat, can you eat these magic stones?"
(I can eat them, but if I do, I’ll probably start evolving, so I think I should do it in your room.)
Oh, Talat’s evolution!
It’s been since winter, when he evolved into a Frost Silk Spider.
The short interval between evolutions is apparently due to consuming that cursed orb.
The excess magic from it shortened the time between his evolutions.
Alright, let’s head to my room and get him started!
"Hm? What’s got you in such a good mood, Lily?"
"Oh, Plum."
Just as I was about to go up the stairs from the second to the third floor, I ran into Plum coming down from the third floor.
Was I really showing my excitement that much?
"Talat is about to evolve, so I was heading to my room to give him magic stones."
"Ah, I see. For a beast tamer, the evolution of their familiar is a moment of pure joy. Would you mind if I witnessed it as well?"
"Plum, you want to watch too?"
"I’ve never seen a familiar’s evolution before. I thought it would be a good learning experience for the future. Would you mind showing me?"
Hmm, should I let Plum watch Talat evolve?
I’ll ask Talat.
"Talat, is it okay if Plum watches?"
(It’s fine. But hurry!)
"What does Talat say?"
"He’s okay with it, but we should hurry."
"Understood. Let’s go then."
With Talat and Plum, I hurried back to my room.
Once inside, I immediately took out the magic stone from my backpack and gave it to Talat.
It was the magic stone of a Frost Wyvern.
I wonder how he’ll evolve?
"... Nothing’s happening," Plum remarked.
"Huh? Talat, do you need more magic stones?"
(No, I’ve had enough. Just wait a little longer.)
If Talat says to wait, then I’ll wait.
After about ten minutes, silver threads began to shoot out from Talat’s rear, wrapping him in a cocoon.
It’s finally happening—he’s evolving!
(Talat is evolving. Based on the magic power consumed so far, the evolution is predetermined. He will evolve into Cocytus Tarachnathos.)
Wait, his evolution is predetermined?
That’s a bit disappointing.
