Having Priscilla Come Along
I got the gist of things.
It doesn’t seem like she was lying, so this must be how she really feels.
And the first thing we need to address is changing the mindset of the merchants.
We should hear directly from the Trade Guild first.
I had the meeting paused for now and headed to the Trade Guild.
I needed to explain the situation to Alizée and have her come along with me.
When I arrived at the guild and I explained the situation to some extent, Alizée went to call the Guildmaster, Priscilla.
Well, of course.
I figured this would happen.
“Lily. As expected, when dealing with one of the Eight Seats, even if she’s your personal liaison, it would be inappropriate for just a regular guild staff member to handle things.”
“Right? So, Priscilla, would you be willing to come along too?”
“Of course. I knew one of the Seats was here and that they were in contact with you, but I didn’t expect they were seeking education reform.”
I guess she wouldn’t have known the content of the talks.
Priscilla, Alizée, and I got into a carriage and returned to the meeting venue.
Now the real discussion begins.
“Nice to meet you, Lady of the Water Seat. I am Priscilla, Guildmaster of the Vardmoi Trade Guild.”
“And I am Alizée, assigned as Lily’s personal contact. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Oh, the Trade Guild. I look forward to working with you today.”
With the two from the Trade Guild joining us, the meeting resumed, starting again from an explanation of the situation on the Isles of the Eight Gods.
After listening, the two bowed their heads slightly in thought.
Eventually, they raised their faces, and Priscilla began to speak.
“I understand the situation on the Isles. As for whether there are merchants in Vardmoi currently doing business with the Isles, we don’t know, but we’ll look into it.”
“Thank you very much. And about the matter of education…”
“That is not something that should be overseen by Lily. It should fall under the jurisdiction of the Seats. Education is something that can shake the very foundation of a nation. It is not something for outside merchants to control.”
“I see... No, I had suspected that much, listening to everything up until now.”
“With that in mind, the Vardmoi Trade Guild will provide support. We will dispatch a few instructors to teach merchants about the risks of dealing with external merchants, relevant languages, and other such matters. Once the Isles are ready to receive them, we will make the arrangements.”
As expected, Priscilla really comes through in times like these.
Maybe this solves the school issue?
What do you think about this chapter?
Dispatching Trade Guild instructors is only a short-term solution; they also need to consider the long term.
Thanks for the treat.🖖
