At the Great Temple of the Eight Gods
That day, we entrusted the Parfes and the Kiblinki Saltas we had brought with us to a monster ranch on the outskirts of town and stayed at an inn.
Given that the Isles of the Eight Gods has a ranch specifically designed for tamers who walk around with monster herds, it seems that monster tamers are quite common here.

The next day, I changed into my formal furisode, and we finally departed for the Great Temple of the Eight Gods.
The group was the usual members, but I also had Amira wear a furisode.
Hers had a Kiblinki Saltas pattern.
I’m quite proud of how cute it turned out.
Amira liked it too, so as her big sister, I was satisfied.

Now then, once we arrived at the Great Temple of the Eight Gods, I thought we would immediately have a meet-and-greet with the Eight Seats, but apparently there was one of them who wanted to speak with me first.
I had no reason to refuse, so I agreed to the meeting.

"Lady of the Earth Seat, I’ve brought Miss Lily."

"Ah, let her in."

We were guided to a remote part of the Great Temple.
It didn’t look like the kind of place that would house the personal chamber of one of the Eight Seats, who are the highest authorities, but apparently this was where the Lady of the Earth Seat resided.
I didn’t really understand, but for now, I decided to hear what they had to say.

"Excuse me. Are you the Lady of the Earth Seat?"

"Yes, I am. I’m Kikuri of the Earth Seat, from the Flower Tribe. I wanted to thank you personally for what you did for the Parfes."

Flower Tribe.
It was hard to tell with that umbrella-like head covering, but she probably had some sort of flower attached to her head.
She looked quite elderly.

"Oh, it was nothing. I only did what I could."

"From what Kiri and Kouro told me, you’ve tamed hundreds of spider monsters, right? On top of that, you tamed dozens of Parfes this time. Is your body holding up alright?"

"My body? … I haven’t really noticed anything wrong."

"I see. Then you must be the type who doesn’t suffer side effects as long as you contract with monsters that are compatible with you."

When I asked Kikuri for more details, she explained that even though we’re all labeled as 'monster tamers,' there are actually two major types.

The first is the type that can tame within a fairly broad category—like “bird-type” or “insect-type” monsters.
Of course, even within that category, compatibility varies, so you might or might not be able to form a contract.
But with enough experience, you can eventually contract even with monsters that aren’t a good match.
However, this type has a limit to how many contracts they can maintain, and if they form too many, the mana flow that reverses from the contracted monsters can negatively affect their health.
This is the more common type of tamer, so it’s said that just because you *can* tame something doesn’t mean you *should* tame everything indiscriminately.

The second type is people like me—those who *absolutely cannot* tame monsters unless there's strong compatibility.
Rather than a simple restriction, this one requires fulfilling rather complex conditions.
As the Kiblinki Saltas once said, in my case it seems to be “monsters that are friendly toward me.”
Thinking back, Talat was friendly from the beginning, and the Kiblinki Saltas group responded very positively when I formed contracts with them.
Apparently, in my case, I can’t form a contract by overpowering the other party, but if the monster genuinely expresses goodwill, I can contract with most of them.
And according to research, this type of tamer doesn’t suffer from health issues no matter how many monsters they contract.

"Well, that’s just what the data shows so far. It doesn’t necessarily mean there’s no upper limit to how many you can contract, but Lady Lily, you still seem to have plenty of capacity left. Just don’t push yourself too hard."

It seemed that Lady Kikuri wanted to meet with me beforehand to give me this piece of advice.
She was also the one investigating the poisonous grass that had appeared in the Parfe habitat, but since she needed to report it to the other Seats as well, she wouldn’t explain it here—she would give a consolidated report later.
Yes, that was very informative.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Lily had no limit. Whether in numbers or compatibility.

Otaku Hikikomori
