Arrival in the City of the Eight Gods
Although there was the unexpected incident of making the wild Parfes into companions, we managed to arrive safely at the city of the Eight Gods.
However, since we brought along wild Parfes we technically weren’t supposed to interact with, there’s a bit of a dispute going on.
Mr. Kouro is explaining the situation for us, but Lady Kiri and the others have been summoned.
I feel kind of bad about it.

“Lady Lily, thank you for waiting.”

As we waited at the gates of the Eight Gods city, Lord Kiri and Lady Byaku appeared, guarded by escorts.
There was also one more person with them—a man dressed in pitch-black robes.
Who is this?

“I apologize for causing such a disturbance. And… who might that be?”

“Ah, me? I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Riku of the Darkness Seat. A dark elf.
My duties include monster subjugation and taming, as well as investigating monster-related incidents and having final authority over subjugation squads.
Pleased to meet you, Lady Lily.”

“Nice to meet you. So, about this incident…”

“I’ve already heard the story from Kouro, and the sample grass that was submitted matched a stored specimen of the poisonous plant.
There’s no doubt that poisonous grass has gotten mixed into the Parfes’ habitat.”

“Then… will the poisonous grass be removed?”

“The management of the wilderness falls under a different Seat.
As for me, I’ll be acting to relocate all Parfes in the affected area.
If we’re going to remove the poisonous grass, we can’t just do it partially.
Since the entire grassland is affected, we’ll have to wipe out all the grass once and start over.”

So it really has to go that far...
Lord Riku is a monster tamer himself, so if there are any Parfes left in the area beyond the ones I brought, he plans to tame them and evacuate them to the city.
Parfes are gentle and almost never attack people, but apparently there are rules that must be followed when bringing monsters into human settlements—just in case.
Rules are important, after all.

“Sorry, but because of that, I may be late to the welcome party. This is a major incident concerning monsters under the nation’s protection. I hope you’ll forgive me.”

“I don’t mind at all. More importantly, if there are other Parfes out there, please evacuate them too.”

“Of course. By the way, can you ask them if there are any other groups?”

Oh, I didn’t think of that.

When I asked, it turned out that the ones who came with me were a cluster formed from several groups.
If there are other groups, they’d likely be in a region deeper in the grasslands where they don’t usually interact.
That information alone seemed to be enough for Lord Riku—he headed off to rescue the groups believed to be in that area.

He’s a man of quick decisions and action.
Are all the people from the Eight Gods like this?
It’s kind of amazing.

You'd think that with them needing express permission to do anything with the other Seats, the Fight Seats would be constantly tied up in red tape. It's nice to see they're able to take action so quickly.

Philip

Such a system is not too far from real life, it works better in the story since the individuals are not cr4p.

Thanks for the treat. 👍
