Lily’s Participation in Battle
“... Are you sane?”
When I said I wanted to take part in the city's defense, Plum looked at me like I’d lost my mind.
That’s kind of rude, honestly.
But apparently, Keuko and the others felt the same. They were against the idea of me going out of my way to be on the front lines.
“This time, *you* are a target, you know? And you still want to show your face out there?”
“Well, I figured if I did, the enemy would focus their attacks on me. And if I’m being protected by Talat, I’ll be safe.”
“Ah—hmm. If Talat’s with you, you would be safe. And with the Kiblinki Saltas gathering intel ahead of time, we’ll know exactly when the enemy will make a move. We could even feed them false information. You’d make the perfect bait.”
“Exactly. Since they’re targeting me anyway, I thought if I showed them just how strong I am, they might never come back. Besides, they don’t even seem to know anything about Talat, so if we make a strong impression here, they won’t dare try again, right?”
“That’s true... That would follow.”
“So then, it’s better if I go out there, right? Talat’s my bodyguard, so he’s not going to leave my side.”
“That’s true... That would follow...”
Alright! I’ve got the logic nailed down.
All I need now is one final push!
“But... Talat does have a weakness, doesn’t he? What if the enemy targets that?”
“W-Well... Talat, is there anything you’re bad with?”
(Getting caught off guard is a pain. I’m best at laying traps and fighting that way.)
“... Plum, Talat says he’s bad with surprise attacks, but the Kiblinki Saltas can handle that, can’t they?”
“... That’s true.”
“So it’s fine if I go out there, right?”
“... We’ll need to consult with Marquis Vardmoi. You *are* a primary defense target, after all—you can’t just do as you please.”
Alright, Plum is convinced!
Now it’s just Marquis Vardmoi left!
“Hmm, Lily going to the front? Considering the future, I’m quite in favor.”
“Ah, I thought you’d say that.”
“Of course. With Lily comes Talat and the Kiblinki Saltas. With the Kiblinki Saltas, intelligence and base defense are flawless. And if you add Talat into the mix, any enemy soldiers that attack can be completely wiped out. This will be an excellent opportunity to make that known. From a political standpoint, it’s an ideal show of force.”
Right?
I knew it—it really is better for me to go out there!
“Well, our own allies might start getting wary of you too, but I’ll take care of that. You just focus on defending the city. Leave the politics to me.”
Marquis Vardmoi is really dependable.
Alright, I think it’s time I got serious!
What do you think about this chapter?
Yep, time for some actions.
Thanks for the treat.
