Final Destination
After leaving the territory of Viscount Juneb, the negotiations continued smoothly.
Even the matter with the Saltas Company was quickly settled as long as it was just about the distribution of vegetables and grains, so there shouldn't be any issues.
The only reason things were particularly involved with the Juneb Viscount family was because they had become our official purveyors, and their domain has a broader scope of responsibilities including livestock farming and operating an orphanage.
For other territories, simply obtaining permission to buy, sell, and transport crops was sufficient.
Thus, our journey proceeded without trouble, and we finally reached our last destination: the territory of Baron Oxit.
It's my second time coming here, and as expected, it's such a peaceful place.
As we continued for a while and rested on a hill, we saw a carriage and cavalry coming down the road toward us.
What could this be about?
“Well, from here on is the Oxit Barony, but… oh?”
“There are soldiers and a carriage with a flag, Marquis Vardmoi.”
“Hmm, that’s the flag of Baron Oxit’s family. I wonder if something happened.”
“Could they be here to welcome us?”
“That’s likely. They wouldn’t have come with so few just to attack us.”
“… Well, there are fewer of them than the number of Kiblinki Saltas with us.”
“The number of Kiblinki Saltas was reported to them in advance. I doubt they would misjudge that.”
As we waited there on the hill, the cavalry stopped at a certain distance, and only the carriage continued approaching.
From inside the carriage emerged Baron Oxit, a young man, and Little Moira.
That young man—could he be Baron Oxit’s eldest son?
“We’ve been awaiting your arrival, Marquis Vardmoi. Welcome.”
“Mm. You seem well, Baron Oxit. But there was no need for such a reception.”
“No, that wouldn’t do. Both you, Marquis Vardmoi, and Lady Lily have helped us immensely in the past. A proper greeting is in order.”
“I see. And that’s your eldest son, Luzia, yes? Have you been well?”
“Yes. Thanks to you, I’ve been studying governance under my father. And thank you for bringing a good match to my sister, Little Moira.”
“Think nothing of it. Moira looks to be doing well too.”
“Yes. Young lady Bern and I still correspond through letters and get along very well.”
“Is that so? If that’s the case, Bern should’ve said something beforehand.”
So Little Moira and Bern are still in contact.
But even Marquis Vardmoi wasn’t informed of that.
If I’d known, I could’ve brought a little gift or something.
… Would that have ended up being one of my dresses?
Well, anyway, we’ve arrived at the Oxit Barony.
I wonder how they plan to utilize Kiblinki Saltas here?
They’d asked for a large number from the start, so they must have quite a few things they want to do.
Now then, will Kiblinki Saltas be able to rise to the occasion?
What do you think about this chapter?
“… Well, there are fewer of them than the number of Kiblinki Saltas people with us.” -> “… Well, there are fewer of them than the number of Kiblinki Saltas with us.”
The number of Kiblinki Saltas people was reported to them in advance. -> The number of Kiblinki Saltas was reported to them in advance.
Thanks for the treat. 👍
Thanks for the chapter! Awesome translation! May God bless you!
