Little Bern's Evaluation
"Wow~! What a beautiful dress!"
This was Little Bern's first reaction when she saw the dress after being brought to the mansion by the staff.
It’s quite a high compliment, isn’t it?
"Truly. I never expected something this exquisite to come from Bern's simple request."
Lady Harriet also seemed to give it high praise.
It looks like the dress turned out well.
"Hmm, but..."
"Is there something wrong, Little Bern?"
It seems there might be something Little Bern isn’t entirely satisfied with.
If it’s something easy to fix, I’ll take care of it right away.
"I think it would be nice to have clouds in the design. Clouds floating in the sky."
Clouds, huh?
The original request was for something "shining like a rainbow," so I didn’t include clouds in the design.
How should I adjust it now?
"How about adding clouds... maybe using white fabric for the sleeves?"
"Yeah! That might be good!"
Great, it seems I got it right.
Both Marquis Vardmoi and Lady Harriet nodded in approval, so the adjustment seems to be on point.
Since I have the fabric, I can make the changes right away if I’m given a room.
I asked Marquis Vardmoi to prepare a room, quickly swapped out the fabric, and returned to the parlor.
"Wow! This is exactly the kind of dress I wanted! The skirt part... is it inspired by sunflowers?"
"Yes, that’s right. It might be a little off from the 'end of summer' theme, but sunflowers are commonly grown around the Vardmoi region."
In fact, sunflower fields can be seen here and there around Vardmoi, primarily for the sunflower oil extracted from their seeds.
But while they’re in bloom, they’re also a feast for the eyes.
It seems Little Bern is familiar with sunflowers too.
"I asked the gardener to grow some in the mansion’s courtyard! They’re blooming big flowers right now!"
"Is that so? Do you like the dress?"
"Yeah! Thank you!"
"Not at all. It’s a dress made just for you, Little Bern."
"Father, Mother! I want to try this dress on!"
Little Bern began pleading to try on the dress.
I had no issues with it, and although I hadn’t taken detailed measurements, the dress was made with Magic Tailoring, so the size should be fine.
Soon, it was time for a fitting and a little showcase.
Young lady Kou, who wasn’t present earlier, was also called in.
Young lady Kou timidly entered the room wearing the dress I had delivered earlier.
Yep, it’s performing as expected—perfect.
After a while, Little Bern finished getting ready and returned to the parlor.
The sunflower design on the skirt and the details on the bodice made her look absolutely stunning.
But maybe it’s a little too flashy?
Some adjustments might still be needed.
"Lily. Why does Bern’s body seem to glow slightly?"
"That’s because I used decorative threads made from Frost Spider Silk. When woven into clothing, these threads have a subtle reaction to the wearer’s mana and emit a faint glow."
"I see. Will it be noticeable in dark places?"
"It won’t glow brightly enough to be noticeable in the dark. You’d only see it if you were up close."
"Hmm. Impressive, Lily. I’ll take that dress as it is."
"Eh, are you sure? Isn’t it a bit flashy?"
"Noble dresses can be far more extravagant. Some children’s dresses are even embroidered lavishly with gold thread. This level is perfectly acceptable."
I see, the world of noble children is quite intense.
By the way, Young lady Kou also begged me for a new dress, but Marquis Vardmoi and Lady Harriet dismissed it, saying proper lady education comes first.
Well, good luck with that.
What do you think about this chapter?
so the dress solution was indeed a flower, though not the kind i had in mind.
and the glowing part is a very nice touch.
certainly better than my thoughts about iridescent or neon colors.
and Kou, don't think you can weasel your way out of your lady training so easily! XD
She got off super easy to what I thought of,
A. super tight girdle [hard to move quickly when you can't take deep breaths]
B. [secretary/teacher] pencil skirt style dress that goes to the knees [leaving half a foot movement at best at risk of ripping, you would need to completely expose undergarments to not damage with quick movements]
C. a stylized sock that tightens the foot in a way that forces high heel footwear for relative comfort [can run easily if worried about falling or feet are in pain]
The embarrassment play of flashing danger continues for the tomboy noble girl. At least in this novel there's no overused and misused crap like "girls should be free to whatever"
Thanks for the multiple release! Awesome translation! May God bless you!
Thanks for the treat.
