Collection Request for Fantasy Metal
When I laid out the rare materials I’d gotten back when I went into a dungeon, right in front of Fanny and the others, they all drew back.
So… they really were that valuable, huh?
"… Did you really gather all this in a single dungeon attack?"
"Yes. Just once."
"No, this amount and quality is just abnormal. Even we might not manage it."
"Wow, I want something like the ‘Judgment of Myriad Demons’ so bad…"
It seemed Lana had found something she wanted, but that would have to wait.
First, I needed to decide on the materials that would go to Wildcat Claws.
While I was at it, I also pulled out an Elder Treant branch.
"… With an Elder Treant branch filled with this much mana, a mage’s staff or an archer’s bow could be made without issue."
"Seriously, this is amazing. How in the world did you get it?"
"Back when we first met Wildcat Claws, we were talking about updating our equipment, so we traveled all around the old kingdom gathering materials. Among those were Treant materials, but through a bit of luck we also managed to get an Elder Treant branch."
"… That’s good fortune. With a branch of this quality, you’d only need to do a little processing to make a fine bow or staff."
"Right. But as for greatswords, one-handed swords, a rapier, and two one-handed shields… with what we’ve got now, those might be tough."
According to Fanny and Juna, only the staff and bow could be made right now—everything else would require more materials.
For Tomoa’s shield, since it needed to be lightweight and easy to handle, the Elder Treant’s heartwood would be the base material, but she wanted to coat the surface with something.
Hmm, what could work for that?
"… Ideally, a fantasy metal. But if that’s not possible, dragon scale would do. There should be a dragon nearby that oversees the gold-rank adventurer exam, so with the right negotiation, we could probably get some."
Ah, that dragon.
Yeah, that might just work.
For Uhina’s shield, since weight was also important, Elder Treant heartwood wouldn’t cut it—but for defense alone, it was fine.
Hmm, what’s the best move here…?
"By the way, how exactly do you combine summoning cards with magic gems?"
"… You channel magic through them while focusing on fusing the card and the gem. That creates a gem infused with the card’s properties. Then, you just embed that into the equipment."
"So, if we combined a card that makes things heavier, one that makes things sturdier, and one that resists magic or breath attacks, we could make Uhina’s shield?"
"… Yes. But if the gem gets destroyed, it’s useless, so you’ll need to be careful about that."
I see, so that’s why they hadn’t mentioned it earlier—it’d make the equipment pretty delicate.
In that case, I’ll coat the gem’s surface with Talat’s Ice Prison Spider thread.
That way it won’t be cut, and hardly any impact will transfer inside either.
With that, the amount of fantasy metal we’d need to request could be cut down quite a bit.
Even so, compared to the available supply, we still had to gather a lot.
This part would have to go through the Trade Guild for ordering.
Here’s hoping it arrives quickly.
What do you think about this chapter?
Thank you for the batch release. 🙏
Silly elf girl, this action will surely have some weird repercussions later on (like making a new branch of business for MC, which might make her an even bigger target for hangry nobles ~ hangry as in angry hungry and maybe horny).
Thanks for the mass release! Awesome translation! May God bless you!
