Preparing to Take the Kiblinki Saltas Along
Several days had passed since I brought the Kiblinki Saltas back to Vardmoi.
The herd I brought along seemed to be enjoying themselves well enough.
The ones who wished to live among humans were learning how to interact with people from the Kiblinki Saltas who were already settled in Vardmoi.
Since people in Vardmoi were already used to seeing Kiblinki Saltas wandering around town, teaching them wasn’t too difficult.
However, seeing multiple Kiblinki Saltas moving together in a group, rather than individually, seemed to be a strange sight for them.
The ones who wanted to cultivate land had received permission from Marquis Vardmoi and were clearing new fields in the nearby areas.
Both the marquis and the Kiblinki Saltas themselves seemed to be monitoring how quickly they could develop the land.
Based on this, they would decide how many to assign and where.
The exploration team had scattered widely around Vardmoi.
It seemed that the vegetation differed somewhat from where their original habitat had been, so they were enjoying various new discoveries.
Incidentally, they were also taking out monster nests as they went, which helped with road security.
Very handy spiders.
I had thought that all that remained was deciding how many to deploy and where, but of course, things weren’t that simple.
I would need to take them there myself.
“Marquis Vardmoi, can’t you handle this alone?”
“Of course not. You’re lending out your tamed beasts—how can their master not be there?”
Marquis Vardmoi scolded me again.
Apparently, various places had already sent requests for how many they wanted, but even though they were tamed, monsters were still monsters—people found them frightening.
In Vardmoi, Talat had been there first, and then I brought the Kiblinki Saltas later, so they had integrated naturally.
But the places we were sending them to now had no such familiarity.
Basically, they wanted them, but they were also worried about whether they would be safe.
Because of that, Marquis Vardmoi would be accompanying the deployments, and I would have to go along as well.
Ugh, what a hassle!
“We’re not taking them immediately. They need time to prepare on their end. Besides, aren’t the newcomers still in training?”
“Training… Well, yes, I suppose they are.”
“We’ll take them once that’s finished. You should start getting ready, too.”
“Understood. Is there anything I need to bring?”
“No. We’ll take care of everything necessary. Your job is simply to sign the paperwork regarding the Kiblinki Saltas’ loan agreements.”
“Paperwork…? Do we really need to go that far?”
“It would be troublesome if we didn’t. Also, when is that new vehicle you ordered supposed to arrive?”
Oh, the new magic vehicle?
If I remember correctly…
“It should arrive not long after autumn begins. Alizée might have already received an update about it.”
“Then we’ll depart once that’s ready… It’s going to be quite the grand procession.”
“Well… yeah, I suppose.”
Since we wouldn’t be returning to Vardmoi each time, we’d be taking all the Kiblinki Saltas along at once.
On top of those being sent to towns, we’d also be bringing the food-searching teams, so the starting group would be a massive crowd of about 300.
I just hope no one mistakes it for a monster stampede.
I’m sure Marquis Vardmoi will take care of those arrangements.
As for me, I’ll wait for the new carriage and prepare for the journey.
Sigh… Looks like I’ll be away from home for a while again.
What do you think about this chapter?
That is a grand entourage. Thanks for the treat.
