A Recommendation from the Princess
The proposal to the Trade Guild was successfully approved, and the heat-resistant vests and Frost Spider Silk shorts are selling like hotcakes.
The shorts, in particular, are a huge hit, with everyone buying multiple pairs in different colors and designs, yielding incredible profits.
The shorts, made from Frost Spider Silk, are so popular that even with the allocated supply for the guild, there’s now a reservation backlog.
I underestimated how enthusiastic the ladies could get.
While focusing primarily on the shorts and taking breaks to craft vests, one day, news came that a customer had visited the Magic Butterfly.
It was Young lady Kou and another woman.
If they had informed me in advance, I would’ve been there to welcome them.
Isn’t it customary to give notice beforehand?
Well, regardless, I should go meet them.
“Ah, Lily. You’ve finally arrived.”
“Young lady Kou, I can’t just arrive when there’s no prior notice. You know I’m not usually at this shop, don’t you?”
“Ugh... that’s true. Anyway, I came today to order a dress for her.”
Young lady Kou quickly shifted to the purpose of her visit, trying to cover her oversight.
But isn’t my shop only accepting orders for Princess Rodenlight’s dresses at the moment?
When I pointed that out, Young lady Kou had one of her attendants bring out a letter.
The signature was from Princess Rodenlight.
Upon opening it, I found a request to make an exception for this particular order.
Payment would be covered by the McFarlane Ducal House.
Suspicious.
I decided to dig a little deeper and asked Young lady Kou about the details.
“Oh, that. Well, you see, this girl is marrying into a marquis family in the eastern region of the old kingdom. Her family is a poor count’s house and can’t afford a proper dress for her. So, we stepped in to help.”
“I see. In a way, this serves to bolster the prestige of the McFarlane Duchy.”
“Well, yeah, you could say that.”
Young lady Kou’s casual attitude remained unchanged as always, despite the gravity of the situation.
It was another one of her bold demands.
Since it seemed impossible to refuse this request, I decided to speak directly with the person in question.
The woman’s name was Shami, the eldest daughter of Count Galette’s family.
The Galette family, a southern noble house, isn’t particularly wealthy.
She had been betrothed to a marquis family from the eastern region since before the nation’s split.
Finally, this summer, the marriage is set to happen—but there’s a lack of essential bridal items.
While Duke McFarlane has provided everything else for the wedding, the dress was proving to be a problem.
They were especially in dire need of a dress for the ceremony itself.
Normally, such things would be arranged well in advance, especially for nobles.
However, it turns out that the dressmaker they had commissioned was affected by the destruction of the old royal capital.
With no dress and time running out, the task landed on my lap.
Well, technically, *I’m not* a tailor for nobles... except that Magic Butterfly is.
In any case, since this is a direct request from Princess Rodenlight, there’s no way I can decline.
I asked Young lady Shami to stay in town for a while, as creating multiple dresses will take some time.
Even I can’t whip up several dresses in a single day!
What do you think about this chapter?
