The Request From Princess Rodenlight Has Come to an End
After working on Princess Rodenlight’s dresses bit by bit throughout the summer, I finally reached the last one. This final piece was specifically requested to be a party dress, so I had decided to make it a bright-colored cocktail dress.
It was already nearly complete.
"Alright! It’s done!"
"Oh? You’ve finished already?"
"Yes! With this, Princess Rodenlight’s request is completed!"
"I see… but, are you sure this is alright?"
"Huh?"
What does she mean by that?
Feeling a bit of cold sweat forming, I waited for Plum’s next words.
"That princess’s request was also a convenient excuse to turn down other clients, wasn’t it? Without that, won’t customers start flooding your shop?"
"Well… it has been six months already, so I don’t think—"
"You can’t be so sure when it comes to nobles."
Plum’s words carried weight, especially since she was born into a Ducal family.
Still, since the dress was finished, I had no reason to delay the delivery.
Since I couldn't exactly summon Princess Rodenlight to Vardmoi for the delivery, I had to make my way to McFarlane, where she resided. Having visited McFarlane once before, the journey was relatively smooth—though even with the Lumite Grand Wing, it still took four days.
I wished for a faster vehicle… but then again, there wasn’t much point in one going any faster.
Upon arriving in McFarlane, I secured an inn and sent word ahead to Princess Rodenlight, informing her that I had come in person for the final delivery.
Her reply came the next day, stating that she would be available in three days’ time in the afternoon.
That was faster than I expected.
I thought meetings with important people usually involved long waits.
While waiting, I strolled around McFarlane for a bit. The best way to describe it was a smaller-scale version of Vardmoi.
The size of the shops and the overall liveliness couldn’t compare to Vardmoi, but the city did have a noble academy, and it seemed there were stores frequented by its students.
Each city has different demands, I suppose.
Then, three days later, I went to meet Princess Rodenlight.
As scheduled, she welcomed me along with her maids.
I didn’t see that awkward crown prince today.
"Why are you looking around so much?"
Ah, Princess Rodenlight caught me.
I honestly admitted that I was checking to see if Prince Sharon was here, and she immediately dismissed the idea.
Why, though?
"Prince Sharon is currently undergoing intensive studies in imperial governance and noble faction leadership. Thanks to your incident, it became clear that his education in those areas was lacking. He’s now in a position where he can’t make excuses. He should be grateful to you, Miss Lily."
"Huh? Shouldn’t he be complaining about me instead?"
"If he had become the nation’s leader with that level of understanding, he would have made far more disastrous mistakes. He lost favor with some factions, but we were fortunate that the turmoil ended with just one count-rank noble house switching allegiances."
Hmm, so that situation really was a serious issue.
Not that it has much to do with me.
Now that I understood the circumstances, it was time for the real reason I was here—delivering the dress.
As expected, the maids let out sighs of admiration the moment they saw the dress.
When Princess Rodenlight tried it on, it was simply perfect.
"Miss Lily, thank you for delivering all these dresses."
"Oh, it was just work for me."
"I understand. By the way, have you decided on your next commission?"
"Not yet, but…"
"In that case, could you take on a request for Young lady Kou? I’d like you to make her a dress suitable for a refined lady."
Wow. That’s an unreasonable order.
I couldn’t refuse, so I had no choice but to accept it… but how on earth was I going to pull this off?
What do you think about this chapter?
More dress orders, it is all in a day's work. ?
Thanks for the treat.
