"A Bright Dress Like a Flower Field"
The theme for the fourth dress is "A Bright Dress Like a Flower Field."
I assume this means it should have colors inspired by flowers.
That makes sense, but once again, I can't settle on a clear image.
A flower garden can look completely different depending on what kind of flowers are blooming.
This is another case where I should ask directly.
After sending a message ahead to the Marquis Vardmoi to ask when I could meet, I was told that tomorrow would be best, so I waited for a day.
Just waiting around felt like a waste of time, so I decided to work on some fabric samples.
Since it’s a flower garden theme, I considered arranging floral patterns on the fabric…
No, just scattering flowers on the fabric wouldn’t have much impact.
It might be better to decorate the skirt or bodice with floral motifs.
Or I could layer petal-like details over a two-way skirt to create a cascading effect like falling blossoms.
Alright, I’ll sketch it out today.
The next day, I took my completed sketches and visited Little Bern.
Young lady Kou was with her today as well, but Little Bern was so focused on the sketches that she completely ignored Young lady Kou.
She really is a fashion lover.
"Lily, you always make exactly what she asks for, but doesn’t that get expensive?"
"Not really? I’m allowed to use regular spider silk for the base fabric, and I can use unlimited dye. Ah, but this time, I’ll need to embroider flowers first and then dye within the embroidery, so it might be a bit of work."
That’s right—Little Bern’s dresses are actually quite reasonably priced.
Of course, since they’re dresses for a noble, they aren’t something commoners could afford easily.
But for noble attire, they’re apparently quite a bargain.
That said, I’m already making plenty of profit.
I don’t really need to earn more than this.
Maybe I should reinvest it into Count Galette’s territory.
"Big sister Lily, can the flowers be any color?"
"Of course! What color would you like?"
"I want yellow flowers! I don’t like red..."
Hmm, yellow, huh?
Yellow flowers will add nice contrast, but I’d like a bit more variation in the colors.
So, I suggested dyeing the hem of the skirt green like flower stems and adding orange flowers as well, which she approved.
Now the dress colors are perfect.
Alright, I’ll put my all into making this one too!
What do you think about this chapter?
Thanks for the treat. ?
