Forging the Gear for “Wildcat Claws”
"Well, I’ll set aside the weapons that’re more decorative than practical for now. Let’s get down to the real job—making the weapons for Wildcat Claws."
"Yes, could I ask you to handle that?"
"Leave it to me. Alright, tell me what you each want."
The members of Wildcat Claws each explained their requests to Teysa.
Basically, they wanted the same kinds of weapons as before, but this time we’d be working in phantom metal and embedding the summon card gems. That meant the final results would be on a whole different level.
Keuko, as expected, asked for a greatsword again.
But this time, instead of relying only on weight, she wanted it to also focus on sharpness—something heavy and keen-edged.
On the other hand, Uhina wanted her sword to pack some blunt force.
Her last blade had been all about sharpness, but it lacked impact. This time, she wanted to cover that weakness.
Akumi’s bow, of course, needed to be as powerful as possible.
For that, we planned to combine Elder Treant wood, fantasy metal, and Talat’s threads.
We’d also set in as many gems as possible to expand its functions.
Her secondary weapon, the thrusting sword, needed to be supple but deadly. Teysa said that was no problem.
As for Akumi’s staff, that would be Elder Treant material reinforced with fantasy metal.
The gems would strengthen her magic and improve control. With wood of that quality, there’d be no issue.
Finally, Uhina and Akumi’s shields. Those would be made of Talat’s boards coated in phantom metal.
That offered the best balance of weight and near-absolute toughness, both physical and magical. Even if the metal surface were damaged, breaking Talat’s board itself would be next to impossible. In other words, these would be the strongest shields imaginable.
So, that was the order.
I’d finish them by embedding the gems and layering in enchantments—including Self-Repair, of course.
Fanny just sighed and muttered that even most Gold-ranked adventurers didn’t have gear this extravagant.
Well, what can I say? If I can make it, I might as well.
And then, after Wildcat Claws had finished their orders, someone else piped up wanting equipment.
Lana.
"After everyone else is taken care of, of course! But please! Make gear for me too! I’ll do my best!"
"… Fanny, is Lana’s equipment really that bad?"
"… Honestly, yes. It’s nowhere near what Gold-rankers would normally carry. She fights with the help of magitech weapons, but her own armor is mediocre. If you’ve got room to spare, I’d like you to make something for her."
Well, if that’s the case, I can’t just ignore her.
Her request was for armor.
I worried at first, since Teysa’s shop doesn’t usually make armor, but she said it was possible.
Still, they convinced me it’d be more useful if I made it—something with my enchantments. So, Lana gave up on fantasy metal armor.
Through the Trade Guild, we’ve started gathering hides from powerful monsters, so she’ll just have to wait a bit longer.
