Parfes Who Want to Cross the Sea
“So some of the Parfes want to go to your homeland, Lady Lily?”
“Yes, it seems that way.”
Since we weren’t going to reach a decision on the spot, we returned to the inn and summoned someone from the Grand Temple of the Eight Thrones to explain the situation.
The person who came was one of Lord Riku’s subordinates.
Apparently, like Lord Riku, they’re in charge of matters related to monsters.
“This is a tricky situation. It’s not unusual for Parfes to be exchanged between the islands of the Eight Heavenly Thrones, but taking them anywhere else is unprecedented. I mean, it’s unheard of for Parfes to show interest in the outside world.”
“Well, somehow it seems they became interested while bonding with the monsters I brought with me.”
“I see. Still, this isn’t something I can decide on my own. We’ll need the approval of the Eight Lords, including Lord of the Dark Throne. And first, we must confirm with the Lord of the Dark Throne whether the Parfes truly wish to leave.”
I figured that would be the case.
Now then, what should we do?
Or maybe there’s nothing we can do.
After hearing the circumstances, the priest returned to the temple, and we discussed what we would do if we were allowed to take the Parfes with us.
After all, we’d be bringing monsters that don’t exist in the Duchy of McFarlane.
Even if they’re generally gentle and harmless toward people, the fact remains that they’re still monsters.
“Priscilla, Alizée, what should we do?”
“What should we do, huh? Since they’re getting along so well with the Kiblinki Saltas, they’ll probably do fine with the ones still in the Duchy of McFarlane too, so I’m not too worried about that part.”
“The real issue is the fact that you’d be bringing back a significant number of monsters that don’t exist there. Even though they’re tamed by you, Lady Lily, you’ve already tamed hundreds of Kiblinki Saltas. If a new species of monster is added to that, it’s understandable that some people might feel uneasy.”
That’s the problem, isn’t it.
I personally don’t see it as a big deal, but the very idea of having hundreds of monsters tamed without incident is already something unusual in the Duchy of McFarlane.
If we can’t resolve that concern, people won’t feel safe even if we do bring them back.
“The decision ultimately lies with the Eight Lords, but what we can do is prepare in case permission is granted. Specifically, we need to create a situation where bringing them back won’t pose any problems.”
“Alizée, what do you mean by a situation where bringing them back won’t pose any problems?”
“Preferably, we’d have the head Guildmaster of the Tamer Guild of the Duchy of McFarlane come. If that’s not possible, then at least the Tamer Guildmaster of Vardmoi. They can verify that the monsters are properly tamed. Also, we should send a letter to Marquis Vardmoi to request permission to bring the Parfes back.”
That’s about all we can do.
It was an unexpected situation, but now that things have come this far, we have to handle it properly.
What do you think about this chapter?
This situation needs to be handled diplomatically on both sides before Lily can proceed with bringing Parfes over. Thanks for the chapter.
