Be Careful not to Forget
Two hours later, I was released, and when I returned to my room, Alicia had been making preparations, so I collected the hidden items and projected a magic circle in the dormitory garden. It would be my first large-scale long-distance teleportation, but for some reason, the accuracy of the teleportation magic seemed to have increased, and there were no particular issues. Lately, there have been things in my memory that I don’t recall. I should ask Teth about it sometime.
If I say, “I’m going to worship you as a God!!”, he should make a contact with me in a hurry.
“Really, my daughter’s life is like a storm. Normally, she wouldn’t have to miss out on school.”
“It can be considered misfortune.”
“As for me, I am dissatisfied because I had less time to spend with my friends than I thought. We could have been together for at least two more years.”
After gathering the Knights that remained behind… and storing the Spider, which had somehow changed form, into the Treasury, we went to get Uncle Grantz, whose eyes were tired and completely red. It was time to go home. Even though a group teleportation of about 200 people was not something I was normally capable of…
The teleportation was successful without any problems. I teleported back to the magic circle previously drawn in the Royal Castle’s garden. My parents and Big brother wanted to make a change in political policy of Arland in the future, and I headed to the meeting for that. I can do whatever I want for now. First, I need to capture my master, Mr. Grantz, so he doesn’t escape.
“Huh? Do you need something? I’m going to sleep.”
“I’m starting the construction of the shipyard and the airships now, so you won’t be able to sleep properly for the next two months.”
Master was even more burned out than me. He was really depressed, almost to the point of turning into ashes. But I can’t let him go because I won’t make it without his help. I used healing magic to revitalize his body and pushed the reluctant master from behind… but he didn’t budge at all. So, I lift him up with Levitation and headed towards my workshop. Currently, that’s the only way to get to the planned research site, as the shipyard section is only accessible from here.
“As planned, the area above here is the practice grounds, so we need to modify it to make the ground move… we should work on that at night, being careful not to be found by my Mother. I’ll create space for the construction of three ships for now.”
“No one would think something like this is under their feet without knowing. Geez, let’s just do it!!”
Mr. Grantz has a deep understanding of shipbuilding, so he has the necessary knowledge. I dug around the surrounding ground, magically reinforced it to prevent subsidence, and installed lights through wiring. Today, we only managed to create a ditch-like space for building ships and proper illumination of the area. Starting tomorrow, we’ll introduce engineers to their work and quickly start the construction… We need to install ventilation, toilets, baths, and such, too.
Oh, and since the engineers were basically all Dwarves, we need to prepare a large amount of alcohol. This isn’t a problem for me, as I learned alcohol production with magic in Ostland. The quality may not be as good as commercial products, but apparently, the alcohol made by skilled mages is delicious. With advice from the Dwarves, I should be able to improve and make good alcohol. I won’t drink it, after all.
The next day.
“Why is there such a huge cavity here?!”
“As expected of the Princess. No one else would come up with something like this!”
It was a lonely night without Mr. Coote, but my parents were considerate enough to allow me to sleep with Alicia as a special exception, so it was okay. Besides, I talk quite a bit with Mr. Coote through telepathy, so it’s still okay for now. If we get too far apart, I might cry from loneliness, but for now, I was fine.
“Good morning. Let’s start working. Team 1 will install the magic cranes, Team 2 will build the shipyard area… Team 3 will maintain the ventilation system… Make sure to camouflage it well, okay? If my Mother finds out, I’ll get scolded.”
(So it’s an unsanctioned work, huh?!)
“I got permission from Father. Mother is scary, so it’s unsanctioned from her.”
At the moment, it was 9 a.m. The engineers will work until 6 a.m., and I, myself, will work until 8 a.m. Since I’ve done so much work that my family decided to let me take a break from my studies for a while, so I’ll have plenty of time for this.
“And Alicia, can you arrange for lunch? They can make it if you go to this cafeteria.”
I handed Alicia a piece of paper with the name and map of a popular eatery among the commoners in the Capital. The owner told me to rely on him if I ever had trouble, so I’ll do just that. I’ll pay properly, so there shouldn’t be any issues aside from being busy.
“Understood. However, when leaving from here, please make sure to have either me or another Knight with you. It’s quite dangerous lately.”
“Got it.”
It seems that due to some suspicious circumstances, the security measures have been intensified. Once the school closure ends, it seems I’ll need an escort to go to the academy.
Well then, I have administrative work to do with Mr. Grantz. Mainly, I helped out where manpower was lacking, made tools necessary for airship construction, and created the required heavy machinery. Also, respecting Mr. Grantz’s wish to modify the Spider, a weapons workshop will be constructed nearby. The only thing left is to expand the entrance. As for the research section, it needs to be separated from the construction section to ensure strict security with card keys. The problem is deciding where to build it. By the way, the magic furnace was located in the lowest floor.
“Now, which ones are you planning to build first?”
“First, two of the ‘old model’ large airships. Also, one of the ‘new model’ large airships… this one will be a passenger type. As for the magic battleships and floating aircraft carriers, they can wait for a bit later. It’ll take quite some time before those, so let’s start with these to secure the budget.”
“I have been thinking, do we really need the old model?”
Certainly, there might be opinions suggesting that the old model is unnecessary. However, there is a purpose for it. It might not be approved by the Kingdom standards, but the old model is quick to build, and is flexible to use. Moreover, the maintenance of the new model is at a level that only Dwarves can handle, so having a large number at this stage might cause chaos.
Naturally, the performance of the new model is mostly superior, and for the cargo type, additional processes like attaching magic cranes are required. By the way, the old model looks like a regular sailboat, but the new model has propellers attached to wings. It was obviously engine-powered at first glance.
