The One Fighting the Great Mage
"... Are you seriously able to keep an eye on here while fighting a demon? Incredible!! Such talent is worthy of inheriting my magic. A genius, no, more than that. This talent rivals my prime. I shall call her a prodigy.”
Eibon exclaimed in astonishment, clapping his hands.
Even while battling one of the archdemons, she had the composure to monitor her surroundings. Moreover, the spell she nullified was no ordinary Explosion. It was a composite spell, Explosion formed by integrating multiple Fireballs, a spell not to be taken lightly. This composite magic was what made Eibon renowned as the strongest of his time. The ability to effortlessly nullify it captivated Eibon.
"Indeed, this is a formidable opponent. It seems I must get serious as well.”
Gilbert called upon the spirit of light and cast the spell Shining Force. This magic bestowed the blessing of light, imbuing his blade with light attributes and enhancing his physical abilities. Gilbert channeled all of this into his oscillating sword. The blade accepted it completely, emitting a soft glow like a holy sword. Seeing this, Eibon became visibly wary. Though he had cut down Eibon’s clones many times, these clones were also cloaked in Borg. Yet, this exceptional sword effortlessly nullified and sliced through them, embodying Eibon's own weaknesses.
"You, too, are a user of spirit magic? And upon closer inspection, you host all spirits just like her... Hmph, so she is the current Spirit King. This seems unwinnable.”
As Gilbert slashed through one of the clones, Eibon’s duplicate crumbled into dust and vanished.
This was a battle Eibon couldn’t win. There were two wielders of light spirit magic, and one of them was monitoring everything while tormenting a demon.
Eibon decided to surrender, but it was too late. Alicetia had already devised countermeasures against Eibon and issued commands through her familiar, Coote.
From outside the temple, a swarm of magic beasts surged in. Obeying her orders, they fearlessly charged at Eibon and his clones, seizing their skulls and carrying them outside the temple. Eibon resisted, but the beasts, even when injured, were quickly healed by Alicetia’s healing magic and rejoined the fight.
"Where are you taking my skull?! I can’t see ahead! I can’t even chatter my teeth!"
Apparently, chattering his teeth was a hobby. It did indeed add a certain skeleton-like charm.
Although Eibon seemed unperturbed with his lacking skull. In fact, he was. Without his skull, he couldn’t see, and he stumbled and collided with his intact self, moving about aimlessly.
"Please give me back my skull!!"
"Wait! What are you planning to do while straddling my skull?! I'm not so depraved as to be interested in a beast's crotch—arghhhh!! Please, anything but that."
"Hey!! Why are you removing the head from the golem's body and placing my skull there? It won't move even if you put my skull on it. Why are you snickering and walking away? Come back here!!"
"I am a part of the chandelier on the ceiling. Is this the remains of a residential area? I will decay here along with the furniture, won't I?"
"Kicked. Toyed with. This is too cruel. I am not a plaything!!"
It seemed that although Eibon couldn't see through his body, he could see through his skull, and he was subjected to the psychological torment of the Woofers Squad. Eibon's duplicates crouched on the spot, and their bodies started running as if chasing something, only to crash into walls and fall apart. The scene was one of utter chaos. Gilbert and Grantz worked together to destroy the intact Eibon and search for the main body. However, it was difficult to tell which was the real one since none had their skulls. It seemed the real body had its skull taken somewhere.
Eibon couldn't repair his body unless it was damaged, so none of his forms could do anything but strike strange poses without their skulls. Gilbert, irritated by Eibon's annoying movements, sliced through the duplicates one by one. Grantz bound Eibons with wires and handed the bodies over to Gilbert. The roles of hunter and hunted were now clear.
"I surrender!! This is too cruel!! Did I do something wrong?!"
"Fine, then quickly dispel the magic."
"Any wrong move, and I'll purify you.”
When Eibon dispelled his duplicates, only the one smashed against the wall remained. It seemed the skull had indeed been stolen. Eibon reassembled his body and sat down in a seiza position.
"Now, explain why you caused all this trouble.”
"I don't mind, but it seems your side is about to end as well.”
A demon embedded in the wall roared and lunged at Alicetia, but a massive cannon was dragged out of the Teasury by several golems and fired, pushing the demon back into the wall.
When Gilbert and Grantz looked at Alicetia, they saw her hovering with six pairs of wings spread out, and a halo lowered behind her head.
"I've got the gist of it. You are no longer needed. Return to Hell obediently. Judgment."
As Alicetia swung her staff down, a pillar of light crushed the wretched demon.
Alicetia repeatedly struck the demon with the pillar of light, mercilessly trampling it. By the time the light faded, the demon no longer existed in that spot. With a sigh of relief, she dispelled her spirit armor and approached on Coote. The demon had been utterly defeated.
