"Status Open"
The next day, we decided to test it in front of my family.
Three blank books of different sizes were prepared. Apparently, these were originally sold as diaries. That’s why we could conduct the test today.
When I said, "Status Open," a stone tablet appeared before me. I pressed the Royal Capital Library button on the tablet.
Just like last time, I saw the bookshelves on the first floor of the Royal Capital Library. I pressed the spine of the book on the front shelf, and the screen displayed a message saying "Download Starting." The words "Downloading" appeared, and after a while, a "Download Complete" button showed up. When I pressed it, "End" and "Continue" buttons appeared.
I pressed "Continue," and the bookshelves reappeared, so I repeated the process twice more before finishing.
I informed my family that the transcription was complete and let them check the books, but they said they were still blank.
When I checked each book myself, I could see the text.
All three books contained different transcriptions.
I confirmed that book size did not affect transcription and that only I could read them.
The remaining question was whether the books I had read would eventually turn blank again.
"Hardt, where did you learn the words 'Status Open'? When you said them, some kind of stone tablet appeared. What’s that about?" Brother Chris asked.
It seemed that everyone could see the stone tablet.
So, I explained that the tablet was used to transcribe books, that saying "Status Open" made the tablet appear, and that the words had come to my mind right before I collapsed in the library.
It would be hard to explain if I said it came from a riddle in a dream.
"I see... But is that tablet only for transcribing books? The fact that we can all see it is interesting... Alright, 'Status Open!'" Brother Gerald said.
And then, a stone tablet appeared before him.
Huh? What’s going on?
Brother Gerald checked the tablet in front of him and read the displayed content:
Name: Gerald
Magic Attributes: Wind, Fire
Magic Level: Wind 29, Fire 14
Mana: 6,237
Contracted Familiar: Ripka (Fiamma)
Notes: Use more fire magic to increase your magic level.
As soon as our parents and Brother Chris finished listening to Brother Gerald, they immediately said in unison, "Status Open!"
Stone tablets appeared before all three of them.
Brother Chris’s status:
Name: Chris
Magic Attributes: Wind, Ice
Magic Level: Wind 35, Ice 18
Mana: 7,664
Contracted Familiar: Bianca (Vendaval)
Notes: When Wind Magic reaches level 40, you will be able to talk with Bianca.
Brother Chris was thrilled to see the note about conversing with Bianca. He happily told her that he would level up as soon as possible.
Brother Gerald also told Ripka that he would keep raising his fire level, so just hold on a little longer.
Our parents were disappointed because their notes section was empty.
So... that means I should have one too?
I said "Status Open" again and looked at the tablet. This time, I found a "Profile" button. When I pressed it, I saw information similar to the others.
Name: Reinhardt
Magic Attributes: Water, Healing
Magic Level: Water 7, Healing 1
Mana: 8,008
Contracted Familiar: Atre (Fenrir)
Divine Blessings: Plant God (Growth Acceleration), Sage God (Library), ●●●
Notes: Raise your Healing Magic level as well. You will receive a bonus when your mana reaches 10,000.
Huh? What’s this "●●●" under Divine Blessings? Do I have another blessing? And what’s this bonus?
"We need to report this 'Status Open' to the royal family." Father said.
"It’s best to test if others can do it too. How about having my classmates try it?" Brother Chris suggested.
"Good idea. Let’s also have the knights traveling with us test it. But still, it’s amazing that we can now see mana levels and capacities." Brother Gerald added.
"Um, I have something to report." I said, and my family turned their attention to me.
If I didn’t tell them now, I’d get scolded later.
"My tablet has a section for Divine Blessings, and it says Plant God, Sage God, and three big dots. It looks like I have another blessing. Also, when my magic power reaches 10,000, I’ll receive a bonus."
[Huh?!]Father mumbled, "Three blessings… three blessings…" over and over.
Mother commented, "Since it shows three big dots, that means we can’t know what it is yet. As for the bonus… let’s wait until we know more. There’s no point in worrying about it now. We’ll decide how to deal with it once we understand it."
"Maybe it’ll be another interesting blessing.” Brother Gerald said.
Brother Chris, who had been deep in thought, spoke up.
"Three blessings… Maybe it has something to do with the Great Forest. But it could also mean that Hardt doesn’t have enough mana yet, or the time hasn’t come."
Father, who had been mumbling, seemed to snap out of it.
"Hardt, Chris’s theory might not be far off. The White Dragon has caused parts of the Great Forest to wither. Maybe the library contains information on how to stop it or restore it. Could you focus on reading books about magic and plants for now? There might be a hint."
That made sense. For now, I’d read books on magic and plants.
If I got bored, I could secretly read popular novels instead.
No one could see what I was reading in the blank books anyway.
The next evening, we had a family meeting.
Father reported that when the knights and magicians were asked to say "Status Open," stone tablets appeared, showing their magic levels and capacities. None of them had anything written in their notes section.
Brother Chris reported that during lunch break, he had his classmates try it. They also saw their stone tablets with magic levels and capacities. However, in their notes section, all three of them had the same message: "Raise one magic type to level 30 by next summer."
Rainhall: Fire Magic Level 22 → 30
Maxwell: Water Magic Level 27 → 30
Jared: Healing Magic Level 24 → 30
They were all determined to level up.
Young master Rainhall said that since it implied they should go to the Great Forest next summer, he would make sure to level up.
So Young master Rainhall was thinking the same thing as Brother Chris.
When we returned to Westland Territory, we decided that all the knights would try it.
I couldn’t help but wonder what would be written in Captain Kyle’s notes section, since he wasn’t in the royal capital with us.
