It’s Decided
Could it be that Lucas needed more Tree of Life leaves to strengthen his mana because the number of times he drank the liquid had increased?

When I asked the slime, it jumped and did a full spin in the air.

I guessed that meant yes.

If Lucas wanted to store power faster, it seemed I could give him some of my mana, but he didn’t seem in a hurry, and I didn’t know when I’d need to use a lot of it myself, so I hadn’t given him any.

Apparently, Atre and Lucas were taking mana from me on their own anyway.

“Lucas, did you tell the slime anything?”

“No, I didn’t say a thing.”

Then it must have come up with a plan because the frequency of Lucas drinking the liquid increased.

I thought slimes couldn’t show intent, but the special ones in our house clearly have their own will.

“The Tree of Life leaves will be enough. The next batch will come in six months.”

The slime then headed to the Tree of Life.

“Six months won’t be enough. Hardt, what do you want to do?”

“I’ll have to ask the Tree of Life to help.”

When I went to the Tree of Life with the slime and asked together, leaves began to fall gently.

“Thank you, Tree of Life. Lucas, say thanks too.”

“Why… I…?”

“Because it’s for improving your meals.”

He simply said, “… Thanks,” to the Tree of Life and the slime.

Since the slime doesn’t eat Tree of Life leaves, it didn’t need them now.

After picking up all the leaves with Georges, I handed them over.

“Can I manage this?”

“You need to give them to the slime when it wants them.”

“I understand.”

“Georges, since you can’t make a familiar contract anyway, why not give this slime a name?”

“A name?”

“Yes. We’ll continue asking you to take care of it, and it seems to trust you.”

The slime jumped and did a full spin, as if it understood our words.

“Seems happy, so it’s fine, right?”

“Yes. How about Fen or Klarl?”

“Why not ask it directly?”

Georges called out “Fen,” but the slime didn’t respond.

When he called “Klarl,” it started hopping excitedly.

“Klarl it is, then.”

Returning from the forest, I finally had some time to read books, so I headed to the greenhouse.

Sitting in the reclining chair and taking a book to read, I noticed two slimes on the sofa across the greenhouse.

I thought they liked Tonmi and Uga, but since they had split into two each, I didn’t know which ones had come.

They must have noticed I saw them, because they got off the sofa and came over, probably the usual Tonmi and Uga pair.

I always wonder how they escape the slime house, which should be closed.

“Did something happen?”

Parts of the two slimes’ bodies transformed into arm-like shapes, crossing and swaying side to side.

“They seem angry.”

Georges told me.

I hadn’t done anything to anger them.

When I beckoned, one came over.

As usual, I gave it my mana and asked Atre to translate.

“That’s unfair. We’ve been here longer, and you named the newcomer first.”

“The name? You mean for Klarl?”

“Yes.”

“Can we name ourselves too?”

Both raised one hand.

If I named the one who liked Tonmi Mint, it would get angry.

“How about Peppermint and Ginger?”

No reaction from the two.

“Hardt, which one is Peppermint and which is Ginger?”

Atre explained why they hadn’t responded, and I breathed a sigh of relief. I thought they were saying no.

“The one who likes Tonmi is Peppermint, the one who likes Uga is Ginger. How about that?”

The two slimes held each other’s “hands” and spun happily.

I asked Georges, “Does that mean they liked it?”

“I think so. But how did they know you named Klarl?”

I don’t know. I have no idea how their connections with other monsters work.
