What Do You Want to Do?
“Georges, are you okay?”
“What are you saying now?”
This year’s last visit to the Tree of Life, I was walking through the forest with Georges.
The slime that makes the drink Lucas drinks—under Georges’s care—was in a carrying bag and came along.
It used to be treated as top secret in Georges’s room, but since the hot springs have strong effects and there are some slimes with unique traits, it seemed fine to let the slime out in the mansion.
That slime had dragged the carrying bag along, gotten inside, and started appealing to Georges. At first, Georges thought it wanted to go outside, so he put it in the bag and took it into the garden.
But it made an angry gesture, so he realized that wasn’t the case.
An angry gesture? With a slime?
Well, whatever—let’s just listen without interrupting.
I was completely confused, so I consulted Atre and Lucas. They said that while it couldn’t communicate directly, it seemed to be saying it wanted to go to the Tree of Life.
Atre, Lucas, I never asked you for this. And how do you even know it wants to go to the Tree of Life if it can’t communicate?
There were too many things to question, but they wouldn’t tell me more.
Georges had gone to the Tree of Life with me before, so he was capable of going there.
Even when he had to stay behind, the knights apparently trained him, so I think he truly wanted to go into the forest.
I kept him at home a lot for my own convenience.
If the slime can act alongside him, then Georges can start coming into the forest too.
I’m not taming the slime, but Georges and it are close.
I provide its food with my water magic, but to the slime, I’m the one who feeds it.
Once we reached the Tree of Life, I gave the family of Ripka and Bianca, and the Alraune and others, some freshly made sweet buns.
Everyone was happy, which was good.
Dinner that night would include the petit wheat dishes and curry rice.
When the Alraune gave me rice seeds that could increase the yield, they said to be sure to let the kids eat curry rice too.
“Hey, where are you going?” Georges’s voice called out.
He seemed to be chasing the slime.
The slime jumped all the way to the branches of the Tree of Life.
What is it doing?
After a few attempts, it hit the branches, causing leaves to fall, which it started eating.
Wait—its food is my water magic. Why is it eating the Tree of Life leaves?
And after finishing, green areas appeared on its body.
Is it because it ate the leaves?
What do you want to do?
I asked the Alraune, who said, “I don’t know, but if the Tree of Life gave the leaves, it’s fine.”
If the Alraune says it’s fine, then I guess it is.
If only the slime could talk, this would be resolved.
The next day, I checked on it. It was energetic and seemed fine.
As usual, I hunted skeleton flowers, scattered eight different colors at two other locations, and returned to the Tree of Life.
“Young Master Hardt, I feel like the liquid the slime spat out is different from usual.”
On the morning we were leaving, Georges handed me the liquid.
It looked transparent, like usual, but somehow felt different.
Should I let Lucas drink it?
“I’m not a taste-tester,” I said, taking the slime’s liquid, smelling it.
“I definitely feel the mana is stronger than usual,” He said, and downed it in one gulp.
“Whoa~ the usual amount we drink at every meal could be replaced by just one dose a day of this stuff.”
