Let’s Hear the Details
When I went to the Knight Order, I found Hamilton and Raul sparring with swords in the training grounds.
Raul, blessed with the protection of the God of War, was overwhelmingly stronger…
Maybe Captain Kyle asked Raul to help train the knights?
Since Captain Kyle was also watching the mock battle, I went over to him.
“Captain Kyle, is it okay if I talk to you now?”
“If it’ll be a long conversation, perhaps we should move elsewhere.”
“I don’t know if it’ll take long, but I want to ask about the Guush.”
“Understood. Let’s move. Federick, I’ll leave the rest to you.”
“Yes, certainly.”
After giving instructions to Vice-Captain Hunt, who was standing beside him, he moved together with me.
Once we entered the meeting room at the knights’ quarters and sat down—
“About the Guush, then.”
“Is Guush something you can capture as easily as Cocottes? And also, about the Guush fur that’s been discarded until now, how much would that have been in a year?”
“The Guush are F-rank monsters like Cocottes or One-Horned Rabbits, but you won’t find them around the fortress in front of the Great Forest. The most common places are around Helios Village and on the opposite side, near Lax Village.”
I heard Lax Village was a day’s ride by horse from the city of Eminira.
“So it’s farther from here than Helios Village, huh.”
“A day by horse from Eminira. With a wagon it’d be about a day and a half. However, there’s a clear-water lake there, and the villagers make their living through fishing and farming.”
“What, there’s a lake in Westland?”
“Well, it’s larger than a pond, but calling it a lake might be a stretch. Still, the water constantly wells up from underground, so it stays remarkably clear.”
“Wouldn’t it be dangerous with Guush around?”
“Many former adventurers live there, and they regularly patrol the area near the Forest. So the surroundings of the village are relatively safe.”
“I want a large amount of Guush fur, but do you know how much has been discarded?”
“We wouldn’t know without asking Lax Village. Shall I make inquiries?”
“Please do. And could you also ask them to start keeping the fur instead of throwing it away?”
“Understood. Though, I imagine they’ll ask for the reason.”
“I’ll explain once it’s official. For now, just tell them I’ll buy whatever they collect. Also, would the Adventurer’s Guild know how much is being supplied?”
“That would depend on whether adventurers are selling Guush meat or horns to the Guild. Do you want me to ask the Adventurer’s Guild as well?”
“Yes. And I’ll purchase from them, too. I’d like to know the fair price.”
“In that case, it would be best if you went to the Adventurer’s Guild yourself.”
“The value changes depending on what the Guush fur will be used for?”
“That’s right.”
If it comes to dealing with the Adventurer’s Guild, maybe it’s best to leave it to Grandfather.
“Will you likely need to go to Lax Village too?”
“Probably. Either way, I can’t decide without consulting Grandfather about both the Adventurers’ Guild and Lax Village.”
“I’ll tell Meyer and the others to prepare for a possible trip, then.”
---
A few days later, I visited the Adventurer’s Guild. Atre and Lucas said they wanted to come, so we came together.
We’d been asked to come around noon, when fewer adventurers were around. Receptionist Mebius was waiting outside, and we were quickly guided into a reception room.
Inside, Guildmaster Winston and Vice-Guildmaster Gavin were waiting, and immediately a magic tool was used to block off the room from outside.
“To think you’d bring one A-rank or higher monster after another, beasts we rarely ever see, and now even a White Dragon,” Guildmaster Winston said, glancing at Lucas perched on my shoulder.
Compared to when I met him over a year ago, he seemed thinner.
“Guildmaster Winston, are you overworking yourself?”
“‘Winston’ must be a mouthful for you, so just call me MacBerry—or simply Guildmaster. Ah, but yes, rare familiar contracts keep happening one after another here in Westland, and all of them are with high-level monsters. Inquiries have been pouring in from all over, and I’ve been run ragged responding.”
So that was the kind of trouble it was causing.
“I’m sorry if I’ve added to your workload. But all of it really was coincidence. I can only say we were lucky.”
“We’ve heard some of the details, but there are parts that must remain secret, so it’s been difficult to handle. Well, don’t worry about it. So, what is it you wanted to consult about?”
Maybe it’s about the Tree of Life.
We’ve caused trouble, but I’m glad Mr. MacBerry is a good man.
In our domain, the people in charge aren’t strange or untrustworthy. I’m grateful Father and the others have such good judgment in people.
