Hmm? A mail notification just popped up. When I opened the message, it read:
A book about the Saintess... That's one of those books about the Saintess who came to this country 150 years ago. It talks about how she discovered edible vegetables and fruits, her cooking methods, and how she solved many issues to successfully complete the railway. It's written like a story detailing her entire life from the time she appeared in this country to her death.
Which part of that book counted as the bonus content?
Maybe the part about her life was the key. I should read it again.
When I read it over, one line stood out: “The reason the Saintess descended was because God sent her to purify a land cursed and rendered barren, as well as to calm the rampaging monsters.”
If a Saintess has appeared now in the beastkin's country, does that mean there are cursed lands there too, and monsters have gone berserk?
Raul and the others did say they lived in an area with a lot of violent monsters. I need to ask whether that place was originally like that or if they were relocated there.
I'll consult with Father and the others later, then ask Raul about it.
For now, I’ll set aside the complicated stuff and follow the email’s instruction to check my mana level and amount.
Mana Level: Water 18 Healing 10
Mana Amount: 9834
Huh? Water was 1, Healing was 4, and my mana amount has increased by nearly 500. What did I do over the past two months since that second dungeon trip?
Well, I’ll just be happy about my healing going up. I was told to raise my healing level anyway.
While I was deep in thought, a steward came to call me. Seems it’s lunchtime. I returned the book to the front desk and headed to the dining hall.
When I arrived at the dining hall, Brother Chris and Raphael were already there.
“Reinhardt, we got word from the Adventurers’ Guild—the fifth floor of the dungeon is already bearing fruit. So I’m sorry, but after lunch, I need you to go there and teach the knights who can use healing and wind magic how to harvest everything at once.”
“If we go now, that means we’ll have to stay overnight in the dungeon, right?”
“Exactly. If possible, I want to do one round of harvesting today and check tomorrow morning how things look.”
When I looked at Brother Chris, he said, “I’ll go with you.”
“Brother Chris, I’m sorry for making you miss more school.”
“It’s fine. This is an important new project for our house. Since it’s on such a large scale, I need to understand it too.”
We went to the fifth floor of the dungeon and showed the knights the harvesting method we used yesterday.
We had them practice the harvest starting with a small area.
While the harvesting went on, Raphael, Natalia, and Raul split up with other knights to decide which sections would be used for each type of spice seed.
Atre, Bianca, and Ciel said they’d go on a monster hunt and headed out.
Since Duke Clondale’s knights are all highly skilled, after a few tries they got the hang of it and mastered the technique.
The next day, we returned to the fifth floor—and the fruit was already growing again.
“With this, we’ve secured a path to setting a low price for curry powder,” said Brother Chris.
If we plant spice seeds across this whole spacious fifth floor, we’ll get even more yield. I really hope it becomes something you can always get easily.
After confirming everything, the three of us returned to the Duke’s mansion, and Raphael and Brother Chris reported to His Grace and Father.
Though things were moving fast, after lunch we would return to the royal capital to submit the new project application to the palace.
Brother Chris told me that when a noble starts a new business, they have to submit a formal application to the country.
Apparently, it’s so the country can respond quickly if the business affects national interests.
Basically, it’s either to prevent power and profits from concentrating in the hands of a few nobles, or because the royal family wants to get in on promising ventures.
Well, I’ll leave the complicated stuff to Father and Brother Chris. As long as they’re on it, I can rest easy.
