Eminira Dungeon Again (6)
"Alright, everyone get into position, let’s begin the Squa extermination." Brother Gerald said.
Each of us moved onto the wall at equal intervals. Once Linka finished picking up Turuf’s horn, a Squa leapt from the lake and came toward us.
Since the Squa used ice magic, I figured boiling water would be more effective. So Canal, Wilson, and I launched boiling-hot water balls at the Squa.

We were attacking while looking down at them from above, so I thought we’d have better aim than before, but surprisingly, they dove into the lake quickly.
Even if we hit their dorsal or tail fins, we couldn’t take them down, so we had to land proper hits.
Iceballs kept flying from the Squa one after another, slamming into the wall with loud bangs. The wall shook with the impact, making our bodies sway.
Eventually, Hamilton and Kamuela switched over to repairing the wall.

It took time, but we focused on targeting and casting at them one by one. Firing rapidly was a waste if we missed.
We had been facing off against them for about an hour and a half when the Squa suddenly stopped attacking.
It seemed we had successfully defeated all 1,000 of them, and a bridge appeared on the other side of the lake.
A single path formed, and at the end of it was the boss room.
It wasn’t there before... how mysterious this dungeon is.

"This was easy this time. You can’t usually finish an extermination this quickly." Said Allie.

Apparently, up until now, the Squa's attacks wouldn't stop until all 1,000 were defeated, so they’d take breaks inside Linka’s defensive barrier.

“We were able to rest thanks to Linka’s barrier, but it’s a tough floor for other adventurer groups. Still, the loot is good, so it’s a trade-off." Will said.

It had already been tough enough with no breaks for an hour and a half, and dodging Squa attacks would’ve made it even harder.

After taking a break, we headed into the boss room.
There, we found a shell-type monster called Kumiri.
It was a 3-meter-long spiral shell and didn’t come out of it.
Apparently, it absorbed all magic and used it to harden its shell even further, making magic ineffective.
We had to lure Kumiri out of its shell to defeat it.
Maybe it was like a giant snail?

When we entered the boss room and saw Kumiri, it looked like a giant version of a pond snail to me.
It had an elongated spiral shell.
I asked Mr. Salem how to defeat it, and he said you stick a sword into the part where Kumiri is stuck to the floor to pry it off, tie a rope to the tip of the shell, and then everyone pulls together like a tug-of-war.
Kumiri was weak to extreme cold or heat, so once it came out of the shell, they’d use ice magic to defeat it.
The Knights Order apparently used a similar method, using either fire or ice magic depending on the members at the time.

One thing to watch out for was that if we didn’t turn the shell on its side immediately after detaching it from the floor, Kumiri would stick back onto the ground.
If only one group was doing it, they’d have to repeat the process over and over, turning it into a battle of endurance.

So, if the key was to prevent Kumiri from sticking to the floor, wouldn’t using a lever work?
We needed a sturdy board that could serve as a lever... Couldn’t we use the Squa loot even if it was short?
If we made a seesaw, maybe we could place the iron ingots we got in the floor 4 boss room under the stainless steel plates.

Since just saying “seesaw” wouldn’t make sense, I had them bring out a stainless steel plate and an iron ingot, placed the ingot under the plate, and put another iron ingot at the right end of the plate.
Then, I stepped on the left side of the plate with one foot to show how the iron ingot lifted.
The stainless plate was 1 cm high, so it should slide under Kumiri easily once it’s pried off the floor.
We’d place the iron ingot right at the base of the shell, and have an adult step onto the opposite side of the plate with both feet, applying their full weight.
Then, we’d pull the rope in sync with that.

The adults tried the simple seesaw I made and seemed to understand the principle.
I suggested trying two or three plates. Even if the person was lighter than Kumiri, it would still work, but since the plates were short, we might need more of them.

The Golden Wings group said they wanted to try it first.
As for attacking Kumiri, that would be me, Canal, Atre, and Ripka.

Mr. Salem and Gregory pried Kumiri from the floor with swords, immediately inserted the stainless plate underneath, and placed the iron ingot under the plate.
Meanwhile, Will climbed the shell and tied a rope to the pointed tip.

Then Mr. Salem and Will stepped onto the stainless plate, and the other three grabbed the rope.
At the shout of “Heave-ho!”, they all pulled in sync, and the shell flipped over toward the rope side.
Even the Golden Wings were surprised it worked so easily.
Kumiri then slithered out of the shell, and Canal, Atre, Ripka, and I rushed to attack it.

Our magic attacks—boiling water, ice, and fire—were all different, but since it was weak to heat and cold, it should be fine.
Kumiri’s movements and weak points were similar to Kemu’s, and soon it stopped moving, collapsing along with its shell.
Twenty stainless steel ingots dropped as loot.

"I thought the boss room on the 10th floor would be a struggle, but we cleared it surprisingly easily." Said Allie.
"Even pulling the shell with a rope doesn’t usually flip it so easily… but a lever, huh? To think five people could take it down so easily..." Linka added.

I didn’t think it would go this smoothly either, but I was impressed—Golden Wings really lived up to being a B-rank adventurer group. They were quick to grasp the concept and wasted no effort.
