I Thought About It Seriously
With the offerings safely done, I was about to hop into the carriage to head to the jewelry shop and the orphanage when something caught my eye.

“Meyer and others’ family crests are done, huh?”

“Yes, they distributed them to all the knights yesterday. Thank you, Young Master Reinhardt.”

“Sorry it took so long.”

“No, you see, we can’t make the same tie-rings for every knight, and there are a lot of members.”

Ah, I see. They had made emblems to attach to the collars of their knight uniforms, just like putting a school crest on a student’s collar.

Since I’ve been delegating a lot, I sometimes forget things if I don’t get updates. There’s just too much happening at once. Once Rosa officially starts assisting me, I’ll have her manage all of this.

“I received a message earlier that you had a new design idea, so I’ve been eagerly awaiting it,” she said.

We were currently at the jewelry shop.
Because this was a request from the gods, I had seriously thought it through.

Prefacing with that I wasn’t sure if it could actually be done, I created hairpins with a large pearl in the center and surrounded it with petals made from many small pearls.

“What’s this meant for?”

“A hair ornament.”

“I don’t quite understand.”

“You know how you stick small fresh flowers all over the hair for decoration? I’m mimicking that by making flowers out of pearls.”

“Oh, I understand now. That’s impressive. Using a large pearl for the flower center makes it a high-quality piece, not cheap at all. It’s actually quite an elaborate hair accessory.”

“Not just expensive ones, though—we should also make pieces suitable for commoners to wear when they want to dress up. And sometimes people put a single large fresh flower on one side of their hair, right? I think making something similar would be fun too.”

“I can do both. So basically, using small pearls for petals and leaves, mimicking a fresh-flower style?”

Then I showed her some drawings.

“Is this a ring? Are the stones embedded?”

Yes. I’d heard that the small gemstones from the dungeon were fairly uniform in size, so I brought some embedded-style designs.
Some had five stones simply lined up; others were twisted in the ring with indentations for the stones. All of them were drawn as slim rings.

Since small charms had already been made into necklaces, rings were the only thing I could think of.

“The common folk can’t really wear prongs while working or doing house chores, right? I thought embedded settings might work.”

“I see… but people don’t have a habit of wearing rings, so I’m not sure if they’d sell.”

“Alright, I’ll think about how to market them. For now, just make a sample.”

“Understood. Thank you as always.”

Because we’ve done several meetings already, things went smoothly. Now it’s just up to the artisans to arrange and refine them.

Arriving at the orphanage, we were guided to the headmaster’s office again.

Leon and Mike were already waiting, and both looked tense.

“Did I keep you waiting? I heard the samples are ready. Can I see them right away?”

The headmaster handed me a bundle of papers. The first sheet was a landscape drawing.

It was well drawn, but the paper was warped.
Looking at the others, all of them were warped too, and the first one was actually the least bad.

The numbers in the frames were hard to read because the borders were too thick.
If the border lines were made thinner, some parts of the ink didn’t transfer onto the thick paper, or got smudged.

Ah, so that’s why they were frustrated—they couldn’t make it properly.

“I thought I ordered thick paper for watercolor, but it seems it was the wrong type. I’ll get another batch, so could you try again?”

“Really?”

“The warping isn’t your fault, Leon.”

“Thank you.”

“Mike, let’s try two-color printing. Make one block with only the border, another with only the numbers, then combine them. It’s a more advanced technique, but I want you to try it.”

“Huh?”

Since both of them were willing to try again, I promised to provide straw paper and proper thick watercolor paper soon.

Maybe I should stop by the paper supplier and ask about it again before handing it over.
