Fluffy Paradise
Just like on the way here, I rode a horse with Knight Meyer. I held the Fenrir pup in my arms.
When I asked the pup if it wanted to run alongside us, it didn’t leave my arms, so I guessed it wanted me to carry it.

When we arrived at the mansion, the butler Henry and the maids came out to greet us.
Although they didn’t show it on their faces, they all seemed very curious about the Fenrir pup in my arms.

“Welcome back. I am relieved to see you return safely. A bath has been prepared, so I suggest you wash off the sweat.”

“Got it, Henry. Gerald, Hardt, let’s freshen up before we report to Father.”

“By the way, is that a magic beast pup Young master Reinhardt is holding?”

“It’s a Fenrir pup. It’s so attached to Hardt that it won’t leave his side, so we brought it back with us.”

“A… Fenrir? I will inform Master in advance, but I’ll leave the details of the report to you all.”

I returned to my room with the Fenrir pup and Georges.
Talking to the pup, I said, “Let’s take a bath together and get you cleaned up,” but Georges looked at me in exasperation.

“Well, it’s going to stay here at the mansion, so it should be clean. Plus, I think its fur will look even better after washing.”

“I understand. Since preparations are already made, please bathe together.”

The Fenrir pup seemed to make a slightly displeased face, but I didn’t mind and carried it to the bathroom.
After the bath, Georges used wind magic to dry the Fenrir pup.
Its fur became silky and fluffy, and it felt wonderful to touch. The Fenrir pup also seemed to enjoy it.

When we finished getting ready and went to the living room, Brother Chris was already there.

“The Fenrir pup’s fur looks a lot cleaner.”

“Yeah, after taking a bath together and washing it, its fur became incredibly silky and fluffy. Hey, could you let Brother Chris touch you?”

I asked the Fenrir pup, and it barked softly in agreement.

“Thank you,” said Brother Chris as he began petting the Fenrir pup.
“This fur is really silky and fluffy. It’s addictive,” he said with a smile, not stopping his petting.

“So, this is the Fenrir pup.”

Said Father as he entered the living room.

“Yes.”

Brother Chris explained how we came to take in the Fenrir pup, and Father came over to me, addressing the pup.

“Thank you for liking Reinhardt. However, there may be those who bear ill will toward you. If someone attacks you, you may retaliate, but please don’t kill them. If you kill, you won’t be able to stay with Reinhardt. It’s okay if our family or Reinhardt gives you permission to fight. Can you promise that?” Father asked.

The pup looked at both me and Father, then barked softly.

“It really seems to understand our words. We will welcome you as a member of our family. Please get along with Reinhardt. Hardt, decide on a name for this pup quickly. Once you’ve decided, we’ll go to the Adventurers’ Guild to register it as a familiar. That’s for its protection too.”

Mother also came over to us.

“Hardt, I’m glad you’ve made a friend. I’m Reinhardt’s mother. Please take care of Hardt,”

She greeted the Fenrir pup.
The pup barked softly in response to her greeting.

“You’re really smart, aren’t you? By the way, your fur is so beautiful. May I touch it?”

The Fenrir pup barked softly in agreement, so I handed it to Mother.

“This fur is so silky and fluffy—it’s delightful. It’s so soothing. Let me touch you from time to time, okay?”

She said, not stopping her petting.

“I didn’t think you would approve of keeping it so easily.”

“Did you want us to oppose it?”

Father asked with amusement.

“Well, since the Fenrir likes Hardt and seems to understand our words, there’s no reason to object. Now, decide on a name.”

“Hmm… What should it be? Ventus, Atre, Vent…”

The Fenrir pup barked enthusiastically.

“Did you like one of the names?”

The pup barked again and circled around me. Its behavior was just like a puppy’s…

“Ventus?”
“...”

“Atre?”
The pup barked excitedly.

“Vent?”
“...”

“You like Atre?”

The pup barked again.

“Then, from now on, your name is Atre. I’m Reinhardt. Nice to meet you again.”

Suddenly, a bright light enveloped me and Atre.
It was dazzling. What just happened?

As I stood there confused, the light gradually faded. My family, Butler Henry, and the maids around us were all stunned.
Henry was the first to regain his composure.

“Young master Reinhardt, are you injured? Do you feel unwell?”

“Henry, I’m fine. I feel perfectly fine. What was that just now?”

Father, deep in thought, finally spoke.

“Hardt… I’ve only read about this in books, so I can’t say for certain, but perhaps you formed a familiar contract with Atre.”

When I lifted Atre to eye level and asked, “Is what Father said true?” Atre proudly puffed out its chest and said, “That’s right.”

“Atre… just spoke~~”

“”“”What?!””””

My entire family erupted in shock.

“Hardt, did Atre really speak?”

Father tried to confirm, but I ignored him and asked Atre directly.

“Atre, did we really form a familiar contract?”

“That’s right. Your mana is abundant and feels so nice, so I wanted to stay with you. Also, you healed my wounds, and most of all, I wanted to talk to you.”

I relayed Atre’s words to everyone.

“Your mana… Although you can’t use magic until the Rite of Eight, if a high-ranking Fenrir likes you, your mana might be more than we expected. By the way, Atre, is it normal to be able to communicate with magic beasts after forming a familiar contract?”

Atre explained that communication with high-ranking magic beasts was possible, but only if the magic beast truly wished for it.
After sharing Atre’s explanation, Father and Brother Chris looked disappointed.
I understood their feelings. Who wouldn’t want a partner like this?
