… Day Five.

Morning.

Yumia doubted her own eyes.

Even though the shop hadn't opened yet, there was already a line in front of it.

“W-...what is this...!?”

Ten people, twenty people… no, even more.

“Look, it’s that place! Macarons!”

“I couldn’t get any yesterday, so I came first thing this morning!”

She could hear the customers talking.

Yumia stood there in a daze.

(Only five days... and it’s grown this much...)

Then Maryne arrived.

Wearing her usual smile.

She didn’t look surprised at all, even after seeing the line.

“Good morning, Miss Yumia. Now then, let’s open the shop!”

“Y-Yes!”

The moment they opened, customers flooded inside.

“Two, please!”

“We’ll take five! One for each member of the family!”

“Oh my, this really *is* delicious!?”

“They look absolutely adorable. They hardly seem like sweets at all.”

They sold like wildfire.

One after another, the macarons vanished from the shelves.

The rush of customers never stopped.

Most of them were women.

(Just as I thought, the female popularity has exploded!)

It seemed the cute appearance of the macarons had completely captured women’s hearts.

And by the way, it wasn’t just dine-in orders, there were plenty of takeout orders too.

To bring home and eat with family...

To use as gifts...

Because of that, people were buying five at a time, ten at a time.

Anyone could see each macaron was small, so buying several at once felt perfectly natural.

And then, two hours after opening.

“... We are sold out.”

Maryne announced it.

All three hundred macarons had been completely sold.

But outside the shop, many customers still remained, unable to buy any.

“What? It’s already over?”

“You’ve got to be kidding! I waited all this time!”

Voices like cries of despair rose up.

Maryne stepped outside the shop and bowed deeply to the people still lined up.

“My sincerest apologies! Today’s stock is completely sold out! We’ll prepare far more for tomorrow, so please forgive us!”

“Well, can’t be helped.”

“You’d better make sure I get some tomorrow!”

The customers said their piece and gradually left.

After seeing them off…

Maryne returned inside the shop and made a small fist pump.

“Ohohohohohoho!!”

Her triumphant laughter rang out.

“We did it! A huge success!!”

“L-Lady M-Maryne...!”

Yumia ran over.

There were tears in her eyes.

“You’re amazing... truly amazing...!”

The daughter of a ruined merchant house was standing in the business world once more.

Handling merchandise so popular it sold out too fast.

She was so happy she couldn’t stop crying.

Maryne smiled at Yumia.

“Miss Yumia. It’s too early to cry. This is only the beginning.”

“Yes...!”

Yumia answered brightly.

Maryne’s expression shifted into that of a merchant.

“Now then... we have a problem. Our macaron supply cannot keep up. Just today alone, we had to turn away dozens, if not hundreds of customers.”

At this rate, even five hundred macarons would certainly sell out.

Ideally, they wanted at least one thousand ready.

“Should we increase production even more?”

“That alone won’t be enough.”

Maryne answered instantly.

“Let’s open a second location!”

“Eh...!? Already? We’re opening another shop already?”

“Of course. Making customers stand in long lines causes stress, and we need to spread them out.”

With lines this long, some customers would give up even if they wanted to try them.

That would be far too wasteful.

“Once I decide to act, I act immediately! Miss Yumia, please find a property. I’ll review our production system!”

“Y-Yes, ma’am!”

Yumia took off running.

And so, preparations to expand with another store began.
