Mountain of Treasure
At last, we had reached the mana ore vein.
A treasure trove overflowing with riches was spread all around us... and this was only what we could see with the naked eye. Who could even imagine how much we’d uncover once we started mining?
“This is incredible. I can’t believe a vein of this scale was left untouched for so many years…”
“The advancement of magic truly deserves respect.”
Gary and Elina were clearly astonished by the unimaginable volume of mana ore.
The scale of it was one thing, but what worked out in our favor was the fact that it wasn’t located too far from the old mine tunnels. Creating a new access route would have been a huge undertaking, but with this, we could repurpose the old tunnels. Even the trolley rails could likely be reused.
But more than anything—
“We’ll have good news to bring to Lord Doyle.”
That’s the biggest win here.
A ray of hope had finally shone into the economically struggling Abbott region.
It was a light as brilliant as the mana ore filling the space around us—truly a light that seemed to illuminate the future of this land.
While everyone else was riding high on excitement, I turned to Amira, the person most responsible for today’s success, and expressed my thanks.
“Thank you, Amira. Thanks to you, the Abbott region will surely be reborn.”
“O-oh no… I only did what I could.”
“Even so, your power is going to save a lot of people. I’m grateful.”
“Ehehe~”
Amira gave a bashful little laugh.
That kind of reaction was perfectly her age.
“So, what now?”
After I finished speaking with Amira, Gary asked me that question. While he was technically the Knights Order’s representative on site, he said he’d leave the next steps to me, as I was connected to the local administration.
Still, I was just a hired hand myself.
Ultimately, the proper course of action would be to consult with Lord Doyle, the lord of this land.
“Once we confirm the area is safe, let’s report to Lord Doyle and have him come inspect it in person.”
“That sounds good. In that case, I’ll leave a few knights here. We’ve got food and tents, so they should be able to stay for about a week.”
“I appreciate it, Gary.”
And thus, the full-scale effort to revive the mana ore mines of the Abbott region began in earnest.
But there was still a lot of work to be done.
We’d have to take it one step at a time—carefully and steadily.
