The Girl Named Amira
A girl named Amira had come to Curtis Village.
At first, I thought she was just a lost child… but it turned out she had been looking for me all along.
That said, I didn’t recognize her, and her name didn’t ring any bells either.
Maybe her parents had some kind of connection to me in the past—or rather, that’s the only possibility that makes sense at this point.
“I’m Justin Foyle.”
“Ehh!?”
Amira’s eyes widened in shock.
Her loud exclamation drew Elina out from the station, dragging Lindel along with her.
“W-what’s going on!?”
She must’ve been in the middle of cooking breakfast, because she came running out wearing an apron and holding a frying pan—hardly what you’d expect from a knight.
Amira looked at her and asked,
“U-um, is that lady your wife, Mr. Justin?”
An absolute bombshell of a question.
Hearing this, Elina silently approached Amira and began speaking in a low, dramatic tone.
“Well… the relationship between Senior and me is far too deep to sum up in a single word… You could say I’m his indispensable support—his unsung partner, even—”
“She’s Elina Bellows, a colleague.”
I cut her off before things got more convoluted.
Elina looked displeased, but I didn’t want her saying any more, especially not if it would get back to Vice-Commander Bellows through Peter. That would be terrifying later.
Anyway, now that the sidetrack’s done with, time to get to the main point.
“So, what do you need from me?”
“I wanted to request your help with a job.”
“A job? Help?”
Those words threw me off.
Sure, we did have a huge upcoming assignment to investigate the mana ore mines—a project that could affect the future of the whole Abbott region—but there was no way she was involved in that…
—or so I thought, until:
“I was thinking of investigating the mana ore mines over there to see if there are still any mana ores left dormant. But since we don’t know what we might run into on the way, I was hoping someone like you, a Holy Knight, could accompany me.”
“... Huh?”
Did she just say she was investigating the mana ore mines?
If that’s the case, then Amira’s true identity really might be—
“Allow me to introduce myself properly. My name is Amira Glaberson. I came to the Abbott region under orders from Lord Donold McCreed.”
Seeing us all standing there frozen in disbelief, Amira kindly revealed her background.
Could it be…?
Is she the magician who proved my innocence during that incident…?
