Amira’s Older Sister
A young woman we found near the lake.
Her appearance looked just like a grown-up version of Amira, so it was clear she had to be related.

Most likely, this was the sister Amira had talked about before.

“Hang in there. Are you hurt anywhere?”

“N-No…”

Though she was clearly exhausted, it didn’t seem like she had any injuries.
Still, I decided to double-check just in case.

“Um, by any chance… are you Amira’s older sister?”

“Eh? H-How did you know?”

She looked surprised as she asked.
But seriously, with a face that similar, not suspecting a connection would be strange.

“My name is Justin Foil, and I’m stationed at the Curtis village station nearby. Your sister is currently living with us at the station for certain reasons, so I know her face well. That’s how I guessed.”

“I see… Ah, my apologies for the late introduction. I’m Lillian Glaberson. Just as you said, I’m the elder sister of Amira Glaberson.”

With a voice that was about to vanish, she introduced herself, then summoned the strength to smile.
It was probably a smile of relief.

“For now, let’s head to the station. Amira is there too.”

“Y-Yes.”

I lent her my shoulder, and Lindel walked beside her as well as we made our way toward the station.

“Why did you come here?”

As we walked, I asked the question that had been bothering me most.
According to Amira, her sister worked as a secretary to a minister, but from the looks of it, she had clearly abandoned that position to come here.

“…………”

Lillian didn’t answer.
But from the look on her face, I could tell she was torn—like she knew she had to say something, but also couldn’t speak freely. It showed clear signs of guilt and hesitation.

That alone told me everything I needed to know.

Whether I was right or not, it was clear she wasn’t going to say anything right now.
Still, I couldn’t exactly take someone in without knowing anything about their situation.

Once we got back to the station, I’d have a quiet word with Amira and get her to contact the Glaberson family.

Before long, we arrived at the station.

“Miss Lillian, I’d like to talk with you inside first.”

“Th-Thank you.”

First, I needed to help her calm down before asking any questions.
Just as I was about to escort Lillian inside the station—

“E-Elder Sister Lillian!?”

We ran right into Amira, who’d been playing with Parker and the others.

“W-Why are you here!?”

“U-Um, that is…”

Lillian looked utterly panicked, her eyes darting everywhere.
Hoo boy… is this going to be way more complicated than I thought?
