Office
Up until now, Maryne had…
Handled paperwork.
Held meetings with Yumia.
Interviewed patissiers and employees.
… All of it, every necessary task, inside the mansion.
Sometimes she used the reception room, other times she worked at the table in her own room, keeping the books.
But as the scale of the business grew, she had started to feel the inconvenience more and more.
(I really do need a proper company office.)
So.
She decided to hand the task off to Rhinos right away.
“Rhinos. Long story short, go find a suitable property in the capital.”
“Understood.”
Rhinos moved immediately.
In a short amount of time, he investigated the real estate across the capital and compiled a list of candidates.
Maryne chose one from that list.
A vacant six-story building within walking distance of the central district.
A solid, impressive stone structure.
She left all the purchasing procedures entirely to Rhinos.
And Rhinos completed everything as fast as humanly possible.
“With Rhinos around, things move along so quickly, it’s wonderful!”
“You honor me.”
“I’ll be assigning you more work like this going forward. I’ll be relying on you.”
“Yes, ma’am. As you wish.”
Rhinos replied.
And so Maryne stood in front of the newly purchased company office.
“This is our company office!”
Yumia, who had come along, stared up at the building in a daze.
“… You bought this!? This whole property!?”
“Yes. Paid in full.”
“Paid in full…?”
A six-story building like this couldn’t possibly be cheap.
(Being able to just buy something this grand on the spot… is that because she’s a noble lady… or because she’s Lady Maryne…?)
Yumia couldn’t decide.
“Alright, let’s head inside!”
At Maryne’s words, everyone turned their attention to the office.
They went in right away.
---
After taking a full tour of the inside of the building…
They began setting up the interior.
The first floor was the reception lobby.
A receptionist would be stationed in the spacious entrance to handle visitors and manage employee traffic.
The second and third floors were meeting rooms and office space.
Multiple rooms were prepared for bookkeeping and paperwork.
The fourth floor was a dining area and relaxation space.
A place for employees to take breaks and eat.
Maryne had strong opinions about this part.
“Creating a comfortable environment for the people who work here is also the job of management.”
The fifth floor was for conference rooms and executive offices.
It was Maryne’s own workspace, and also used for meetings with senior staff.
And the top floor, the sixth, was Maryne’s living space.
… A bath.
… A comfortable living room.
… Her private room.
In her room were a table, a bed, and other furnishings.
From the window, she could see the entire city of the count’s capital.
“… What a lovely view.”
Maryne stood by the window, looking out over the city.
Somewhere out there, her shops were drawing lines of customers even today.
Just thinking about it made her chest swell.
Maryne moved out of the Flamsteed mansion and relocated to the top floor of this company office.
Firuru came with her.
“Firuru. From today on, this is our new base.”
“Meow.”
Firuru curled up on the bed.
Even in a new place, it seemed like nothing really changed.
