So There Really Are Elves
Bath time’s over, so refreshing!
Ari being there with me is the usual thing.
Right now, I was relaxing in my room.
Alright then, my plan for this afternoon is… yeah, to make some new miso soup. To do that, I’m going to the food storage I haven’t checked yet to look for ingredients. I wonder what’s there. I’m excited.
There was still a little time before I was supposed to meet Gordon and Sebas.
Man though… at dinner yesterday, Mama gave me that sidelong glance again. What’s with throwing such a seductive look at your own son? And Papa noticed it and gave me that sour stare. Geez.
Papa, why are you getting jealous of your own son?
Well… when I had just been born, he said something like, “Amana’s breasts are my breasts, you know. I’m only lending them to you.” He’s always been totally smitten with Mama.
Honestly… what a hassle.
Compared to that, Ari, who doesn’t know anything about all this, had the same sparkly, shining eyes as always. Yeah. An angel~
“Ahem.”
And then Papa, trying to get Mama’s attention, kept clearing his throat. That was pretty funny.
Though I wonder if Mama knew exactly what Papa was thinking, was she deliberately ignoring him?
I mean, Mama, I told you the new miso soup wasn’t ready yet.
Geez. Papa’s sulky glare was annoying.
… Yeah, that kind of thing happened, didn’t it?
Makes me stare off into the distance.
Knock, knock, knock!
That was Sebas’s signal that he was entering the room.
“Come in, Sebas.”
“Young Master Kaito, thank you for waiting. Everything is ready. Gordon is waiting in front of the food storage. Let us go.”
“Okay. Let’s go. I wonder what’s there? I’m excited.”
Walking. Walking and walking.
Since I run every day, maybe I’ve gotten stronger? It felt like my walking speed had gotten faster.
“Young Master Kaito, your lower body… yes, it’s becoming more stable.”
“Yeah, somehow I can walk faster and more steadily now. I don’t trip anymore.”
“Shall we start some self-defense training as well?”
“Self-defense? What’s that?”
I know what it is, but I’ll pretend I don’t.
“It is training so that you can protect yourself, Young Master.”
“Oh! Then will I get stronger? Will I be able to defeat bad people and monsters?”
“Defeating bad people would still be difficult. For that, you would need much more training and to learn the sword. However, Young Master Kaito is someone who should be protected rather than fighting himself. And when the time comes… if, for example, there is no one around to help, then at the very least you must protect yourself and endure until someone comes to help you. It is necessary in order to buy even a little time.”
“Okay. So instead of just being protected all the time, it’d be good if I could protect myself too?”
“Yes. Let us start with that.”
“And if I do that? What happens?”
“Well… you might be able to go to other forests as well. For example, the forest of the elves.”
“Eh~ elves? They exist? Aren’t they just people from picture books?”
I already know they exist, but I have to act like this is the first time I’m hearing it.
“They do exist. Would you like to meet an elf?”
“Yeah! I want to meet one!”
“I see. Then that day will be something to look forward to.”
So there really are elves!
I’m super excited.
While we were talking like that, I saw Gordon up ahead, bowing his head.
Well, the elf talk is still for later.
More importantly, making new miso soup comes first.
“Gordon, sorry to keep you waiting. Alright, show me inside!”
“Yes, Young Master.”
Creeeak! The door opened, just as heavy-looking as always.
