The Call of the Tree of Life — The Manifestation of the Spirit and the Harmony of the Forest
The refugees who had fled from the depths of the forest spoke of a shocking truth — “the Lord of the Forest has gone berserk.” Those words weighed heavily upon Akio’s town. The sudden growth of the Tree of Life, the restlessness of the sacred beasts — all of it now seemed connected to that same calamity. Sylvia sensed that the balance of the entire forest was beginning to collapse, and she urged Akio, “Let’s go to the Tree of Life… if anywhere holds the key to restoring balance, it will be there.”

Akio set out for the base of the great tree, accompanied by Sylvia, and—just in case—Leonora and Kina. The Tree of Life had grown even larger than before, radiating a pure, powerful life force that filled the air around it.

Akio had long suspected that his touch carried a quiet, unseen power — objects he handled seemed to last longer, plants he tended grew stronger. It was a subtle gift, one he had never fully understood. But now, in the face of this great crisis, it was the only thing he could rely on.

He placed both hands gently on the broad trunk of the Tree of Life and prayed from the depths of his heart:
(Please… bring peace to this forest. Grant rest to all those who suffer…)

At that moment, warmth flooded his palms, and the entire Tree of Life began to glow, its brilliance spreading outward in waves. The sacred beasts around them lifted their heads to the heavens, crying out in voices filled with awe and joy.

Then, from the highest branches, motes of light gathered — swirling, merging — until they formed the shape of a woman. She was breathtakingly beautiful, her gown woven from living leaves, her hair adorned with dew-kissed blossoms, and her eyes shimmering with starlight. She was one of the forest’s holy spirits, a guardian of harmony itself.

“… You have answered the call of the Tree of Life, child of man. And you as well, daughter of the forest, Sylvia.”

Her voice was as clear and gentle as the whisper of wind through leaves, resonating directly within their hearts.

The spirit spoke.
The Lord of the Forest — an ancient being embodying the collective life force of the entire woodland — had been tainted by a malignant energy that drifted from a faraway land. The corruption had driven it into agony and madness, its immense power turning destructive. Even the spirits had tried to calm it, but they could only contain it partially; many of the forest’s creatures had been forced to flee their homes.

“But you, Akio… your gift — the power of Harmony — combined with the sacred essence of this Tree of Life, may yet soothe the Lord’s pain and restore its true self.”

Akio was astonished, yet he felt the weight of the role now resting upon him.

He, Sylvia, Leonora, and Kina followed the spirit toward the deepest part of the forest — where the Lord of the Forest awaited. Once, that place had been home to a serene lake, but now it was a maelstrom of chaos. Trees lay torn from their roots, the earth itself split open, and at the center loomed a monstrous shadow — a mass of intertwined trees and roots, writhing and roaring in torment.

“That… that’s the Lord of the Forest…” Akio breathed.

The spirit gathered the Tree of Life’s light in her hands and released it toward the beast. A blinding radiance enveloped the creature, halting its rampage for a fleeting moment.

“Now, Akio! Touch its heart—let it feel your compassion!” Sylvia cried.

Pushing aside his fear, Akio stepped forward, one careful stride after another. Leonora and Kina flanked him protectively.

Bathed in the spirit’s light, Akio reached out and placed his hand upon the thick, bark-like surface that formed the Lord’s core.

(You’ve suffered so long… You’ve been in such pain… But it’s all right now. You’re not alone anymore.)

His thoughts — his feelings — flowed outward, merging with the warm current of his power. The wild, chaotic energy raging within the Lord of the Forest began to soften, gradually enveloped by the calm radiance of harmony.

Time lost all meaning. Then, at last, the miasma that clung to the being’s form dissolved like mist, and its twisted body slowly returned to that of an immense, ancient tree draped in moss. It swayed its branches gently, as if bowing to Akio and the others in gratitude.

The rampage had ended. Peace returned to the forest.

The spirit turned to Akio and Sylvia with deep reverence.

“This forest shall walk with you. Through the Tree of Life, our voices will always reach you.”

With that, she faded back into the light of the tree.

Akio still didn’t fully understand the true nature of his power. But he could feel, deep within, that he had protected those he loved — and forged a bond with the forest and its spirits that would never fade.

This miracle marked a new beginning. Their town was no longer just a settlement of people — it had become a sacred place, a living heart of balance and harmony for the entire forest.
