The Lady’s True Identity
“No way… that girl from back then was Lady Alyssa…?”

The moment I laid eyes on Lady Alyssa as she finally made her entrance, my jaw dropped and refused to close.
Because her appearance matched exactly that of the girl we rescued on the way back to the Tryon estate from Gracela—the one who had been attacked by some thugs.

As I stood there dumbfounded, Elina noticed and asked for an explanation.
I’d already told her about the girl we’d saved, so I explained that the girl from back then was actually Lady Alyssa.

“No way… that kind of coincidence really happens?”

“But at the time, she looked just like an ordinary village girl… Why was she in a place like that with no escort?”

“Maybe she was trying to run away from home?”

The moment Elina said that, a memory surfaced in my mind—my conversation with Mr. Cameron, the newly appointed peacekeeper of Gracela.
He had mentioned going to greet the visiting McCreed family during our talk.
Lady Alyssa must have been with them at the time.
Probably dreading the thought of attending the ball, she disguised herself in simple clothes and slipped away from the group, sneaking out of the city at the right moment.

Unfortunately, she ended up getting harassed by some lowlifes—until we showed up just in time to help her.
That experience must’ve shaken her so much that she chose to hole up instead of trying to escape again.

But then, Lord Doyle—someone who had never once been invited to the ball before—was this time granted an invitation.
And more than anyone else, he was the first to notice something was off about her.
That likely touched Lady Alyssa deeply and led us to this moment.

Dressed in a stunning white gown, Lady Alyssa walked straight toward Lord Doyle.
When she reached him, she looked slightly apologetic as she asked.

“How is your leg injury?”

“It’s completely healed now.”

“I’m glad to hear that.”

After the short exchange, Lady Alyssa gently extended her right hand.

“May I have this dance?”

“Of course.”

Smiling, Doyle took her hand—and the very next moment, music erupted from the orchestra in the hall.
With the two of them setting the tone, the ball officially began, and other couples followed suit, pairing off and joining the dance floor one after another.
Gazing at the elegant, joyfully dancing guests all dressed in their finest, Elina and I kept our guard up.

Because Hank was nowhere to be seen.

Knowing what kind of man he was, we had anticipated he might try something here.
But… it seemed that worry was unfounded.

Lord Doyle and Lady Alyssa’s dance completely captivated the attendees.
As the first song ended, the room was filled with applause.

Though a bit embarrassed by the attention, the two didn’t seem to dislike it.

Hey… this might really be something.
Something big might actually come out of this.
